Just thought I'd have a bit of a laugh to see what mythical matchups people would have loved to see. A retired boxer vs a current fighter. Mine would be Pacquiao vs Duran at 147. I see this as being an explosive fight, one which they both go to war in the early stages, perhaps both hitting the canvas in the first 4. Pac would use his speed in these rounds to unload on Duran, who keeps coming forward. By the 5th, Duran starts to box, using his underrated boxing skills to frustrate Pac and build up a solid lead by the 10th. The last two would be out and out war rounds, both landing bombs going for the KO. Ultimately it would go to the cards, where Duran would win a razor thin 7-5 decision. Any others that people would like to see? And how would they pan out?
I would have loved Holyfield vs Marciano. Weight limit doesn't matter, both at their bests And Armstrong vs Chavez can you imagine the trench warfare
Roy Jones Jr. vs Sugar Ray Robinson!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also Tito vs Miguel Cotto wouldn't be shabby... it'd be aite...
Fernando Vargas vs James Kirkland Ricardo Mayorga vs James Kirkland James Kirkland vs Omar Henry Mike Tyson vs David Tua Tyson vs Ike Tua vs Brewster Trinidad vs Quartey Trinidad vs Mosley Vargas vs Mosley (primes) Mayorga vs Margarito Mosley vs Ike Mayorga vs Trinidad (147) Wlad vs Haye Pac vs Mayweather Tyson vs Foreman Tyson vs Liston Foreman vs Liston Mayweather vs Spinks Pavlik vs AA Mayweather vs Cotto Mayweather vs Margarito Cotto vs Hatton (140) have to end it somewhere so thats good enough for now.
Neither being my favourite fighter of all time, I would none the less like to see the Liston that ruined Floyd Patterson fight the George Foremann that ruined Smokin' Joe. I don't think there can be a heavyweight fight made that would be better than that.
Khaosai Galaxy vs Ricardo Lopez Henry Armstrong vs Floyd Mayweather Jr at 135 Erik Morales vs Wilfredo Gomez at 122 Carmen Basilio vs. Mike McCallum at 147 Marcel Cerdan VS SRR at 160 Mike Tyson vs David Tua Nigel Benn vs RJJ at 168 Eder Jofre vs Al Brown at 118
Benny Leonard vs. Prenell Whitaker. @ 135 of course. My #1 Pound for pound (Leonard) vs my #2. Pound for Pound (Whitaker). At this weight both can box and both can punch. They are about the same size in terms of height and reach. With Whitaker being a southpaw they are Mioor immages of each other. I like Leonard in a close decision. Ray Robinson vs Thomas Hearns @ 147. There are a lot of great boxers who have fought at 147 so mythical match ups at this weight make a lot of sense. In terms of tallent/skills/abillity perhaps no one at 147 can top Robinson. Hearns may not have as much tallent/skills/abillity as Robinson but he dose have tallent/skills/abillity in his own right. However he has an advantage that can't be tought. That is size at 6′ 1″ and a 78" reach he has a certian advantage over the more skilled/Tallented Robinson. While being tall with long reach alone might not help. Knowing how to use those advantages is a huge advantage. Hearns most certinly knew how to use his size to his advantage. I think Robionson needs to stop Hearns to win which consedering this is Robinson we are talking about I think it could happen. If not Hearns by Close decision. Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Sugar Ray Leonard @ 147. A battle of the Sugar Rays'. On paper this fight should go to Robinson. However Leonard has wins over boxers who on paper were better than him when they fought in Hearns and Benitez. If I go with tallent/skills/abillity. I would pick Robinson. If I go with the intanagables I'd go with Leonard. This is also a match up of my #3 pound for pound (Robinson) and My #4 Pound for Pound (Leonard).
