Rack em'. Well said. Langford was a tough son of a gun. One of the most all time battle tested chins at heavy.

Numerous testimonies from the time, and the statistics, suggest he had a GREAT chin.
Not sure why you'd call it just "ok".

Johnson. Good, but not dynamite puncher
Langford was floored twice and recieved at least one long count.

    McVey' Very good puncher

4 wins [one might have been a fix]
7 draws[ a couple of which were very possibly prearranged]
    1 win by tko..
    11 losses by dec

    Fulton good puncher
1 win by dec[ over 4 rds]
    1 ko loss

    Wills good puncher

    12 lossesby dec
    1by ko
1draw may have been a fix
1 dec loss may have been arranged
    2 ko wins

Wills floored Langford 9 times in their series.

    Smith Good puncher
    1 loss , [possibly a fix]
    1 ko win
Jeannette average puncher, not world class

    3draws
    7 wins by dec
    1ko loss
    3 losses by dec

    Haynes
    Flynn
    Tate
    Hague
    Thompson
    B J Johnson

I do not consider "world class punchers"

Langford's best results, imo, are not being stopped by McVey ,though some of their series were not strictly on the level.
    And his series with Wills.
None of those he fought, [ with the possible exception of McVey ,] compare with the acknowledged heavy duty punchers of the ring imo.

The best puncher he fought was probably George Godfrey ,whom you did not mention, but Godfrey was only a novice at the time.

It depends on what words mean to the individual ,anvil like ,to me suggests iron ,ie indestructible .Langford's was not .Simple really.
Numerous testimonies as to the quality of his chin? Please furnish us with a couple.
Power ,world class. Chin ,good but not indestructible.

    Boucher,

Did Jack Johnson ever fight a prime or near prime world class puncher then? Do you think Choynski, Klondike or Williard ( three fighters who KO'd Johnson ) hit harder than the above men you think were not world class punchers?

You may be a tough judge. I just want to see if you have any double standards.

I thought this was about Langford, but I guess you could not refuse an opportunity to dump on Lil Arthur.
    So, to answer your query.
I think Choynski was still near prime. He was only 32.
He ko'd Johnson with a left hook shot to the temple actually

Klondike dropped Johnson with a left to the body,Johnson took the count resting on his elbow.

Willard was a prime world class puncher. I believe he hit harder than any that Langford faced.
Gun boat Smith describes Willard as a monster puncher.

Willard knocked out two of Johnson's gold teeth with a left hook .

    Johnson swallowed them .

I believe Choynski hit harder than, any that Langford faced.
Testimony from Corbett,Jeffries, Fitzsimmons, Sharkey,Johnson confirms it.

    Double standards?

I shall resist the obvious riposte ,as I do not want to be your latest feuding partner.
    Suffice to say} GLASS HOUSES.

I heard some great things about Sam Langford from Nat Fleischer...seems like Sam was a strong short freak and had that super heavyweight power and toughness Nat said he was the best he saw and we know Nat rated Johnson high but lb for lb Sam was the man...as a heavyweight he ranks up there with Marciano as a lb 4 lb guy
