OK, so with the IBF HW Eliminator going on you have the current US HW champion (Harris) fighting a non-American (Peter) with the winner fighting Chambers for the IBF Mandatory.

According the IBF, only an American can hold the USBA title, making it the only US only title that I'm aware of.

The question is, if Peter beats Harris, will Harris be stripped of the title?

Then, if Chambers beats Peter, will Chambers be the new USBA champion? Effectively he would be the lineal champion, but...who knows what the IBF will do if Harris loses.

One interesting fact. Today I called the IBF and asked if a non-American can hold the USBA title, and they said "No. Its an American Championship title only."

I said "I'm excited about the idea of Eddie Chambers becoming the US HW Champion."

The lady on the phone said "So are we."

Really you wasted your time on this **** calling around? Why do you care about some regional trinket?

    Yes, I did.

    For several reasons.

    1. I'm American and think that a National Champion is worth having.

    2. Because having a recognizable name/face champion in the USA would be good for the sport.

    3. Because a USA (or any National/Regional) title should be a great milestone for fighters to attain.

    4. After reading up on regional/national/intercontinental titles, I'm learning more about the sport.

    5. Because as a fighter, I understand how hard someone has to work just to get to the level of "that trinket".

I never understood how great achievements those minor titles are, before I started to box myself :good

Years and years of hard work that one can even dream about challenging such a title

    Exactly!

I'm not even the best fighter in my weight class in my gym! Not to mention the entire city, region or the entire USA....or North America.

When you think that the best fighter in most gyms will never even be considered good enough to be the "opponent" on Friday Night Fights, it puts the whole thing into perspective.

According to the IBF (who I called and asked), the USBA is an American only title.

Those other titles are North American titles, which obviously encompass more than just the USA.

USBA is an American title that can only be held by an American.
