    (Cotto pre Margarito)Who wins?
P4P i think chavez was the better fighter but at welterweight i personally think cotto is too strong as he is a more natural Welterweight. Chavez had the better chin even at 147. I would give the speed and power advantage to Cotto at welterweight in my opinion Cotto is a underrated boxer(pure boxing skills) and he would be able to outbox chavez however chavez was relentless coming foward and has a strong chance of wearing down cotto and stopping him late like margarito did.

Cotto comes out putting on pressure and stalks his opponent but he often back peddles if he cant hurt them for e.g. Margarito and there are some others also. I feel this fight would be like margarito fight(although i think margarito cheated in that fight) but chavez doesnt have the size advantage that margarito had-4 inches in height- although he is similar size to cotto on paper, he would be at a size disadvantage as cotto is the naturally bigger guy.
    On Paper
    Cotto- height:5'7" / 170cm reach: 67" / 170cm
    Chavez height:5'7.5"/ 171cm reach: 68" / 173cm

Chavez was also about 30 years old and past his best when he moved upto Welterweight where as Cotto was at his prime at Welterweight.

I presonally think Cotto outboxes him early to open up a good lead then Chavez comes on strong late(RD7-10) but Cotto regains control in the last couple of rounds to get the UD-112-116.

Who do you think would win and how?

I love Cotto, but I got to go with Chavez on this one. Maybe he could win a close decision, but Chavez will most def be the favorite. I mean look at what he did to Taylor.

Why do people put Chavez in fanisity match ups at 147? He was never all that good at this weight.

i can see it going either way at 147 to be honest...Chavez is all wrong for Cotto, but at 147 he wasnt anything special...At 140, Chavez rapes Cotto tho.

Chavez never fought higher than 144 and even that was too high for him. But even giving that weight away i think chavez can outwork cotto and win a decision.

Chavez can come in at 140 and still win.

Julio still looked ok against Whitaker at 147...even though he came in well below the limit...its just Pernell looked brilliant.

That Chavez still beats a hell of a lot of welterweights.

Chavez was still Chavez and Cotto is still a guy who is very good but loses to all the good fighters he fought like Mosley and Margarito. Chavez would be able to look quick and win a UD.

Chavez at 147 wasnt quicker than cotto, he didnt hit harder and wasnt as physically strong as cotto either at 147, only thing he had going for him in my opinion was his toughness, he was able to take a far better punch and also didnt cut like cotto either. Margarito cheated in my opinion, you just cant do that to someones face with the amount of time margarito was hit him, pacquiao hit him more often and more cleanly and has more power than margarito and still didnt manage to damage cotto's face like margarito did. I had the mosley fight 115-113 in favour of Cotto (and gave one close round which could have gone either way to mosley) and mosley even admited after the fight he thought cotto had the slight edge in the fight and deserved the win.

Even though Chavez was starting to decline when he fought Whttaker that version still beats up Cotto, maybe even stops him late.

Hell id even give the past it version that fought Oscar a good chance.

He was past it when he fought there but look at who he fought. Whittaker and a prime ODLH, both of whom whip Cotto. In Chavez hey day at JW he could have came in at 140 and beat Cotto.

I dont feel i underrate Cotto at all, in fact i consider myself a fan of his, but hes not in the same league as Chavez.. This is an ATG against a very good fighter despite the natural weight difference, Chavez still wins this one.

At 140, chavez wears cotto down and wins via TKO alate in my opinion but at 147 cotto was a improved fighter with a better chin and stronger and chavez was that little bit older aswell at 147 compared with 140. P4P chavez anyday, but @147 cotto 8 out of 10 times for me.

Why don't I ever see fantasy fights for JCC at LW or 140? It's always haters trying to tear him down by pointing out who he would lose to at WW. He was NEVER a full welterweight, and never even tried to fight in that weightclass until he was in his non-training, coke and hookers downslide period.
