Sounds to me like the exact opposite, JMM is trying to preserve the possibility of facing Maidana. If they had the same trainer, the fight could never happen.

I wouldn't want my trainer giving advice to a potential future opponent either.

Marquez is never going to fight Maidana, so WTF?

I don't think at 40 years old, Jmm would still want to fight for small change. He wants retirement money!

He might be willing to fight Amir Khan, or Tim Bradley, because at least those two can generate him better amount of moolah.

Besides it would be convenient to just state "I will never fight Maidana since we both share the same trainer (like what Khan is saying now about Pac)".

Maidana is like a katsidis with more power. All wrong for JMM at his age. He might win but it would be an ugly fight. If Katsidis decked him at 135, Maidana will deck him more at 140 (plus 1or 2 years added to JMM's age).

Nacho is like the old worthless dad, and jmm the spoiled, abusive son. Both are getting old. Jmm as a fighter, Nacho as a trainer. Jmm should have given Nacho due respect. And how insecure jmm would appear. Khan is a potential opponent for Pac, trained by Roach who trains him, yet not only does Pac respect Roach decision to train Khan but even spars with him. Khan has markedly improved in performance and self-confidence as a result. Whether Pac-Khan, Jmm-Maidana happens in the future, at the end of the day it's these fighters that will get into the ring. There are no deep, dark secrets in boxing nowadays. Everything is on video. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

ronnie shields trains both erislandy lara and kemrit cintron, roach trains martysorian(sp?) and chavez jr, roach trained de la hoya when pac was preparing for a fight, manny steward trains cotto and k9 bundrage, fritz sdunek trains vitkil and dimetrenko.....

Actually if a Marquez-Maidana fight were to happen, it likely would happen sooner than later.

Maidana is to face Morales in April, if Maidana were to be succesful vs Morales, up next for him could very well be a JMM fight........

......and so how would that go down???

Nacho just trained Maidana to run over Morales and the next matchup at hand is JMM????

That would be a problem, which is why Nacho should have never even considered taking in Maidana in the first place.

......and you know what, the end result of Nacho telling Maidana "no deal" actually might benefit Maidana more than it does Marquez.......

If after Maidana disposes of Morales comes the Marquez fight......Nacho without a doubt would be training Marquez and Maidana would have to hunt for a new trainer.
......and if you think about it, Nacho and Marquez would now have the upper hand with Nacho already having handled Maidana's training and knowing most of his strenghths and weaknesses up close, first hand and personal.

Is'nt this why DLH-Pac was made?
Roach having trained DLH, knew his lack of stamina and inability to pull the trigger.

Nacho telling Maidana to take a hike is doing Maidana a favor.

    "Jealous and scared". Right.

JMM is just being intelligent. You don't invite a probable enemy under your tent and share your resources with them. :deal

The point is that JMM is at the twilight of his career. He struggled with the likes of Katsidis!!!!!

Does he think that Beristein should be allowed to develop fighters so that he can have a career after JMM too?

Beristein would be good for Maidana because he teaches very fundamnetal boxing. Maidana already has the power. He will never be speedy but if he is fundamentally sound, he could be like a smaller version of Cotto, but with one punch KO power.

To those dreaming of JMM fighting Maidana? WTF? He will be at least 4th on the lists. Ain't happening. Too much risk for too little money.
