This is a win win for Ortiz.

A foe at a higher class who is an established champ on HBO

Berto has zero to gain a lighter guy coming off a draw and written off after Maidana not long ago

if berto wins what can he gain?

if ortiz wins he is back

  2. Ortiz will win this one for sure , then i think they'l put him in with alexander , if maidana hasnt already brutalised him

Ortiz is not going to be a top fighter, ever. He quit, Maidana was just about to put a 12 round beating on him.

Khan or Braldey would embarrass him too. He can't beat any top guys at 147, Pacquiao,Cotto, Mayweather would KO him in the early rounds.

Berto could actually compete against people, Ortiz would just be getting fed to Berto.

Not if he's brutalized like he was in the Maidana fight.

  5. Berto is no maidana , hes doesnt have the same power or chin and hes faced no decent opposition

WIn win? The kid already has shown the heart and will of the cowardly lion. If he gets blasted, how is it good?

He hasn't even beaten a good JrWW yet...

win win because he is getting an undeserved shot and if he loses there is no consequence yet if he wins the results will be big

i also doubt berto will blast him to pieces

There is consequence if he loses. He can be ruined mentally. HE can easily not bounce back considering the lack of heart he's already demonstrated. He froze when Maidana returned hard fire. HE couldn't even keep Anthony Peterson off him either. Berto is a highly skilled fighter with speed, a good punch, and good hands which he puts combinations together well. Another factor, Ortiz' defense.

Difference being, Collazo took the chances to get his punches in. Will Ortiz?

One question: Was Ortiz having problems making 140 which would affect his performance?

Is so, then moving up to 147 makes a little sense, but not a Berto challenge right off the bat. I don't see this ending well for Ortiz.

Ortiz is a frustrating fighter. Him and Chad have the tools to let their hands go more but they don't because of their lack of focus and lack of determination. Ortiz has very good power but he still seems kinda hesistant. I think he can beat Berto but I just think Berto will dig deeper. Berto is a dumb fighter but the guy has heart.

That is a good point. Moving up might allow him to feel stronger. Possibly allow him to absorb punishment a little better w/o having to retreat.

But for the life of me, don't know why they are meeting at a catchweight. Doesn't make sense at all for this fight. Also...WTF is a catchweight of 145+1? Why not just say 146? Or, and this is crazy, since it's so close, why not just drop the CW and go for 147?

I think Berto will win this comfortably to be honest.
