Why didn't Mosley jab more against Mayweather?

It's such a fundamental part of boxing is it not? Throw the jab to momentarily blind your opponent to set up your power shot. I know PBF is great at countering jabs with the pull back counter but when Mosley threw the jab, he had success. His two great shots in round 2 were started with a jab. I know Mosley was completely jittery and not right mentally but he's always been a guy who seldom threw the jab. Just pitter pat jabs.

I just never understood why some fighters like Mosley and others seldom throw jabs. Why is that? It obviously helps when you regularly throw the jab. Is it their trainers? Is it the style they were taught when they were kids and it's hard to change their ways?

    Floyd's pull counter

he uses it perfectly to stop is opponent from jabbing

he did it to just about everyone he's faced

Because Mayweather was "pulling" and coming over the top with the straight right.

How many times will these guys stop punching before you realize Mayweather is the REASON they stop punching?

If I can find it I'll post it, but Floyd says during the fight that he'd talk **** to Mosley and tell him he had no jab and had it sucked so that he could throw it and when he did, FLoyd would pull counter over it

I don't buy the pull counter argument. First off, PBF doesn't do that 100 times a fight. He does it maybe a couple dozen times. So that can't be the reason why Mosley wasn't jabbing. He's never been a jab guy to begin with which i don't understand. But at least from my viewpoint, when Mosley threw hard, committed jabs and followed up, he had success. But when he threw half assed jabs or just the right hand without a jab, PBF could see the right coming a mile away and defend much better. And i would say about 85-90% of the time, it was the latter situation.

He can't adapt, one dimensional. He's always struggled when his opponents box him, he's lost many times before facing Floyd.

The only thing Mosley did not do is clinch more.

There is no good counterpuncher in clincher position. You might get hit but the power would not be there.

Mosley could have thrown a punch, clinch, rinse over again.

It equals the palying field a bit better. His legs can not move being an older guy, but being a heavier guy, he gains advantage by tiring his opponent too. he could have tried clinching then let his weight sag a little so that his opponent is carrying him. Just like what heavyweights do.

Mosley doesnt jab a lot anyway so thats why he didnt.
His strategy was to land that one punch and finish floyd, he failed. His stamina dissapointed me the most, also his lack of heart in the later rounds, he looked like a crack addict after a cold turkey the way he fought.

    YDKSAB!

Mosley didn't clinch more because he didn't want to navigate the space to get to the clinch. Mosley's game is the powerful punches at range. He would have steadily and devastatingly been hit mid combo trying to get to the clinch.

After the clinch FMJ would have been happy fighting shoulder to shoulder with him rolling his shoulder and peppering him with uppercuts and left hooks as he attempted to get distance. At distance FMJ would step back, pull, and pound him.

He would have looked like a complete idiot. Like when you talk about Boxing and the subject isn't Pac.

Mosely does NOT have a good jab, anyone who watches boxing for longer than 1 year knows this? How is this even a thread seriously?

He has no snap on it so it doesnt stop the opponent in their tracks! He uses that pity patty thing!

Plus PBF will use the pull jab all night long on Mosely!

Also noticed that given PBF's shell defense, he exposes his left side of the body when he couches in his shell. I think Mosley and Nazim should've really concentrated on that area. I saw Mosley throw to that area but not really commit, like it wasn't really part of the game plan. How about step to the right where PBF can't counter with the right and just bash away at PBF's left side? But Mosley was never a lateral movement guy to begin with so i'm asking for too much.
