Ultimate Fail. I can't believe this. And people moaned when Manny and Margarito fought for the belt, when either of those fighters would steam roll these 2.

Who has Saul Alvarez and Matthew Hatton fought to get this opportunity. It is absolutely crazy. Boxing has gone Mad.

Anyways, I'm a manchester boy so i'll be cheering on Matthew Hatton.

Anyone think he stans a chance (only comment if you seen any of his recent fights) As whilst he is the underdog, he has tightened up his game alot.

It happened because Oscar himself lobbied the WBC to put up Manny's vacant title for this fight. It was on their website. Absolute joke. I blame GBP as much as the dreadful WBC.

Later in the year Alvarez will probably face fake WBA champ Trout to unify the titles in an ultimate battle of phoney champions

And what is even funnier is that Hatton is not even ranked by the WBC at 154!:patsch

Wait. Margarito would steamroll Alvarez? :huh

I do agree that this is a ridiculous title fight, though.

On 2nd thought thoughts it would be a great fight i think. I'm basing my desision on what i saw from Alvarez in his gight against Jose Cotto.

I think Alvarez is still too green to handle the Margarito that Manny faced.

but your right it certainly wouldnt be a sure thing.

That would be a great fight between 2 mexicans after this one.

Correction: Hatton or Alvarez could be A new Light MW Champion. Effectively pushing aside all the othe ranked conteders. Again.

and this fight was at 150 since Alvarez is always touted as a WW but has yet to fight there since his debut in America. Hatton is the EBU WW Champ, isn't he? So the WBC is giving the JrMW belt away at 150 again. They actually seem to be really inventing a new weight class.

It goes to show what a sad state of affairs boxing is in when Alvarez and M.Hatton are fighting for the light middleweight title

Hatton is a welterweight and isn't world class

Alvarez has not fought a credible opponent and has a chance to become a world champion

    Its a joke

Alvarez stops Hatton via TKO in 6

i do try to. But its just diluted the sport so much. So many great match ups don't have to happen now because of all the belts on offer.

On the plus side, there are great match up been set up at the minute.

i don't think it did. Sugar Ray Leonard fought for a light Heavyweight Strap despite never fighting a light heavyweight ever, and won it fighting a super middleweight.

That was the fight that opened the box
