so it says over that the scene.

Montiel's dad states that he should be at 122 not 118

Didn't he just move up in weight last year? I hope he makes weight the last thing this sport needs is a fight like this being cancelled so close to fight time.

the only thing I have read about Donaire is this constant rift in his family, which he and his wife are going to make a statement about after the fight

this is from the local news:

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Three days before the weigh-in, Nonito Donaire still has about 4 or 5 pounds to lose to make the bantamweight limit of 118 pounds.

To make the weight, Donaire is limiting himself to 1 meal a day, usually soup, some carbohydrates, and minimal water.

    Donaire is also sleeping more.

These are the sacrifices Donaire willingly goes through as he stays focused on the biggest challenge of his career – facing Fernando Montiel for the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight belt on Feb. 19, Saturday (Feb. 20, Sunday in Manila).

Awww come on!!! Weight drained fighters dont make for great fights. No wonder Montiel has been hinting at going up in weight. He has been looking alot sturdier.
Donaire is really no surprise. The kids huge for 118.

montiel's been training wearing a sauna suit to help shed off more weight. looks like both are clearly struggling to make weight. damn, i still hope both fighters come in good condition.

The guy is pretty stout though. He has been hinting for a while he wants to go to 122. I dont think he wants to now after hearing this. I think he has to.
Then we can get us ourself another PR-Mexico war when he beats on WV Jr.

I do hope that both of them can make the weight. The luster of the fight is somewhat diminished if one of them can't make the weight.

Interesting. He does look heavier than usual on photos, I think that's because he understands how big Donaire is so he put on some additional musles. He is a small bantamweight so I just don't see him killing himself or failing to make weight, he sould be fine just gain more than usual up to the fight. Not a bad idea IMO, he's not gonna outbox Nonito nor win a close decision so he needs every bit of power to finish Donaire. He's following the Hasegawa script.
