well? i dont really know. i do know that jake lamotta had a wonderful left hook but i believe that this was because he was originally a southpaw that turned to orthodox.
Sugar Ray Robinson had an amazing left hook. Not only because of the technique but because he had a few different types of hooks for different moments. After that I like Fraziers and Joe Louis' hooks.
Nat Fleischer said Ruby Robert, but the Manassa Mauler literally wrote the book on it. Among non heavyweights, SRR is hard to go against.
Probably not the best but the lefthook Benvenuti ended Rodriguez with was a thing of beauty. The one Patterson knocked out Ingo in their second fight too.

Seamus, the BEST LEFT HOOK, Iv'e seen live was Al Bummy Davis's left hook.I saw him flatten a few guys with it but the time my dad took me to see Bummy Davis,a 10-1 underdog ko the great Bob Montgomery in the first round.WOW ...:good His left was a powerful piston, that put his opponents to sleep. Nat Fleischer who saw them all, said Davis's left hook was the best he's seen since your Avatar, Charlie White,25 years before...
I was wondering if anyone knew who that was. Hemingway said it was the greatest left hook ever, for what that is worth. I think Benny Leonard might agree, also.
No mention of Tito yet? Say what you will about his skills, but he was one of the best left hookers I've ever seen. A beautifully executed punch with perfect torque that just seemed to flow from him. Add in the tremendous power behind it and you have one of the best punches of the last 25 years.
