Cochulito Montiel never looked to get no decision vs. world no1 BW Hozumi Hasegawa last year, the classy Mexican undestood he's the slower and less polished of the two, and the visitor in Japan, so he settled in reading, countering and timing the fast lefty technician which resulted in a devestating 4h round stoppage.

Donaire, the next big Filipino thing under Bob Arum's black wings is likewise the faster and better boxer, also the one with the better marketing potential, so don't expect Montiel to get a close decision - or to look for one.

No, if there's some basis of the rumors that Cochulito is having issues making 118lbs - and he looks tremendeusly ripped - it's likely because he's looking for every bit of power to come in with heavy hands and bad intentions like Sergio Maravilla Martinez did in the last superfight we had.

I don't have to remind you how brutally that paid off, it hit you the moment you read the thread title.

So will Montiel make a huge statement ignoring odds and common opinion - can he pull a Maravilla on Donaire?

Donaire is the obvious favorite but it doesnt mean you should but your money on him.

Montiel KO, or Donaire will run and pot shot Montiel to avoid getting KO'ed to a UD decision.

He traded with Concepcion, so lets hope he does the same so we can see a KO...haha

The only way he doesnt now that i think about it is if Donaire stinks up the joint.

I gotta make up my mind by Saturday so i can place my bet.

Either a Donaire UD or a Montiel TKO.

I think he can, and with Donaire saying he doesn't want to box him, instead he wants to take risks and knock him out I think Montiel's chances look even better.

  10. Montiel can do anything, thats why he's fighting. But will he, odds arn't looking too good.

He has massive warrior cahones taking on Donaire.

Unless he drops him early and he decides to just box safely the rest of the fight.

I'd really like Montiel to win, but Donaire is obviously the better fighter overall. Montiel better have a hell of a gameplan and make Donaire uncomfortable. I question Donaires mental strength

Will Donaire ever fight someone his own size? He seems to only take fights where he has a huge size advantage.
