This is worth watching. Its directed by the bloke who did Dead Man's Shoes and This is England, Shane Meadows, and its about Bartley Gorman, who's autobiography King of the Gypsy's is well worth a read.

I know both quite well, especailly Johnny Coyle. I'm also friends with his son, Tony. Contrary to the general view, Johnny is a decent guy, a nice person. Like anyone else, he shows respect to receive respect. Johnny is very well-mannered, polite.

We have a mutual interest in boxing. Johnny keeps fit, goes running & that. He looks well for his age. I''m sure hes 45 or more?

Yes, I wouldn't like to cross him, but all I will say is don't believe everything you hear. You'll find a lot of things are exaggerated in life.

Nice guy is Johnny. I like him!

Coyle's supposedly lot caused a schoolboys comp at York Hall to be abandoned and left a fair few young boys left waiting for fights and being let down cos they wanted to pull a shooter acting the big man.

Bunch of ****s in my book if true. Although Doherty i heard is decent man.

The legendary York Hall in East London

The setting at the York Hall were the Finals of the London Boys Club Championships.

The fact that it was a planned insidious and sickening event cannot be denied as the mobsters came armed to wage war.

Members of Bethnal Green's Repton Amateur Boxing Club were competing in the tournament and Chairman David Robinson said: "It was the worst incident I have ever seen.

"There was a minor scuffle at the start. We saw one man grab another man's neck but no one took any notice.

"And then ten minutes later one gang came in with weapons and then a big group of men came in the other door.

"It was scary. No one knew where to go as weapons and chairs were being thrown everywhere. The kids were screaming.

"People were there for an afternoon of entertainment not to suffer something like that."

This view is in no way an exaggeration. Several persons is the hall, who have asked to remain anonymous, have told us it was sickening to see very young children screaming with fear and crying in what should be a safe haven for youngsters and parents.

Many other witnesses have confirmed scarface morons rampaged through the York Hall armed with baseball bats, pickaxe handles and shovels, hitting out wildly with intent to cause permanent injury or homicide and this was witnessed by terrified youngsters and extremely concerned parents.

Parents sought the safety of the boxing ring for their children, some as young as two-years-old, but even this area was violated by the fighting mobs and without regard for the safety of the children chairs rained in on the ring, and youngsters had to be hurriedly evacuated.

Witnesses have stated the fight kicked-off following an argument between two families believed to be Travellers. If this is correct, and there is evidence to prove it is, then the Travellers community has a duty to conduct its own investigation and mete out suitable punishment.

Regard for the reputation of decent Travellers in a modern society demands this justice.

When the morons erupted frantic mobile calls for help were made to the police by civilized members of the public. However, before the police finally arrived there had been mayhem inside the York Hall, a public place; one of the mobsters had been chased out of the hall into Old Ford Road, while others ran out onto the very busy Cambridge Heath Road , Bethnal Green, London E.2.

It is known a North London victim suffered a broken arm.

London Youth's Chief Executive Nick Wilkie explained the need to cancel the championships and said: "We appreciate entirely that this action is very disappointing for the boys and their trainers and families and we regret this as much as everybody. However, our over-riding concern is safety.

"This is not a question of a spat but a very serious issue involving a planned attack with weapons.

This not a decision that is unreasonable in the circumstances but it does mean that mob violence rules and youngsters are denied a basic right to be protected by the State to lawfully pursure a leisure pursuit of their choosing. This is in itself a serious crime and a denial of human rights

A police statement from Tower Hamlets CID say they are investigating a "disturbance" that happened "near to York Hall.”

It is a ludicrousand totally insufficient descriptionto call this serious riot a mere 'disturbance.' The police have a duty to advise CEO Nick Wilkie that the championship need not be cancelled and the police will ensure the championships will be staged wthout interference from mobs.

This is a fundamental way a democratic society works. It also send a completely wrong message to impressionable very young people and others.

Rioting mobs armed with lethal weapons; terrified children; parents scared out of their wits for the safety of their children; bloodied victims; law abiding youngsters and people engaged in a sports competition beneficial to communities has to be cancelled; well behaved youngsters are caused intense disappointment and the more talented youngsters denied sporting honours, and Tower Hamlets CID describe it as, "A disturbance near to York Hall."

There was ample evidence, and witness statements that on the 20th pf February a riot took place in and outside of the York Hall, yet, detectives. and not uniformed police, have to be called in to investigate this very serious matter that is an open and shut case, if they find the culprits,

A police station a few hundred yards away from the York Hall was closed to save money and because we are told the police monile early respond units are more effective.

What happened on Saturday the 20th were the mobile units all caught-up in a traffic jam?

Scary events like this that terrify decent people never happened when Bethnal Green was the territory of gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray and they cost taxpayers nothing to maintain. ~
