Where would YOU place Pernell whitaker in the ATG rankings?

whats your top 20 all time p4p list?

 

i used to have him at 10 but i just can't anymore, there's too many other fighters that would be left out that deserve the spot more

i have him lower end of top 20, right around barney ross

Top 10 for me without a shadow of doubt. Brilliant fighter.

Nobody is unbeatable. You have some guys (more recent) than fight less frequently and never lost in their prime. A lot of that is timing and luck. If they had to fight 15-20x per year like they did in the 1940s and 1950s, they are bound to have an off-night, or run into a terrible style matchup.

I'd slightly favor Duran over him at 135 anyway.

Do you mean physically, or his performances afterwards?

Although he took a dreadful beating in a fight, he then went up to a division he's undersized in, and beat an undefeated world champion. He was still a formidable fighter for a couple more years. The guys he lost to above 140 in 1992, he always would have, he was too small, too brawl-happy, and lacked the power necessary to fight in that manner.

But physically, the beating was horrendous. Both to the face and body.

 

Top 20 or 30 sounds fair although I have never made any definitive list.

Check out his amazing defensive skills, definitely top 30 for sure and top 3 of the last 20 years.

Personally of the boxers I've studied into some sort of great depth I have him only behind Duran, Ali and Leonard (in that order.)

 

Why the **** didnt you do a public poll ?

How are we supposed to know the voting numbers are legit if we cant see who voted ?.... Pea fans could easily vote top 5 & not declare it, Pea haters could vote the worst option even if they dont believe it.

Enough with the fkn hidden polls please people... Ive been saying this **** for yrs, hidden polls should not be a fkn option... just tick the `public poll` box when doing these things please.
