In no particular order: Brian Mitchell Alexis Arguello Floyd Mayweather Genaro Hernandez Hector Camacho
Brian Mitchell was a great champion who is for sure in the top ten of jr.lightweights of alltime. His record speaks for itself.
My top 5 looks like: 1. Floyd Mayweather 2. Julio Cesar Chavez 3. Alexis Arguello 4. Azumah Nelson 5. Brian Mitchell I pick Mayweather to beat everyone listed here. At 135 thought I think he loses to Chavez. There ain't much between them all, especially the top 3
Azumah Nelson Julio Cesar Chavez Alexis Argeullo Floyd Mayweather. The 130lb division doesn't have enough great champions like the 126lb division. Its only been around for over 40 years.
1. Julio Cesar Chavez 2. Alexis Arguello 3. Azumah Nelson 4. Floyd Mayweather 5. Samuel Serrano 6. Brian Mitchell 7. Genaro Hernandez 8. Alfredo Escallera 9. Tony Lopez 10. Hector Camacho I'm probably forgetting some though.
Glad you put Alfredo Escalera on the list. If Alexis hadn't been around, he would have been more well-known. Watch the two "blood-bath" championship fights on ESPN Classic if they are shown..I saw them live on TV years ago.....they wouldn't let fights like that continue under today's rules.
Mayweather Arguello Chavez Nelson Serrano Hernandez Escalera Mitchell Camacho Elorde Dundee Chocolate More than 10, but you can make a case for each one
Armstrong belongs among, if not atop any list of 130 lb fighters IMO, even if he never held the title.
Arguello and Mayweather are the top 2 in my opinion. Then you have the likes of Nelson, Chavez and Elorde who would probably round off my top 5 (although Manny Pacquiao also has an argument) in terms of the division’s modern history from the 1960s onwards. But 130 also has the depth that goes back to the earlier part of the 20th century with the likes of Johnny Dundee, Todd Morgan, Benny Bass, Kid Chocolate and Frankie Klick all the way up to Sandy Saddler.
