We will learn nothing in this bout. It's a glorified sparring session for Khan.

The Bradley one will be the big one for knowing how far Khan can go. Let's just hope it happens

 

I don’t think Roach’s illness has had an impact on how his fighters fight in the ring. The reason why Khan doesn’t fight too well at close/mid-range, is because he’s not built for it. Roach knows this, which is why he’s had him fighting from long range with his long arms, utilizing his superior speed, and implementing the quick in-and-out strategy.

I personally think, and hope, Khan will fight McCloskey the way he fought Malignaggi. I liked that version of Khan because it allowed him to remain calm, go at a steady pace, and pick his shots better. Stylistically, he will always be more comfortable with these sort of fighters – Peterson, McCloskey, Malignaggi – who try to boxing with him. However, the aggressive fighters like Maidana, Rios, etc, are a different story. These guys will always be a nightmare for him.

 

Bradley is gona be interesting! Question is who do you rate more:

I rate Bradley more. He's a well-rounded fighter, who does everything good. He can be aggressive and he can box a bit. But I'm not a big fan of him, to be honest. His style isn't very pleasant to the eye. I'd pay to see Maidana fight any day. Can't say the same for Bradley.

 

How do you see McCloskey going?

Im finding it hard to find videos of him but from what I have seen he is a pritty well rounded fighter with a decent chin. Should be an interesting fight!

It’s difficult for me to say how this will go because I’ve not seen enough of Paul to accurately gauge how he’d look at world-level. I suppose I can see his upper-body movement giving Khan a few problems in the early rounds. But at the same time, his upper-body has never faced Amir Khan type speed. He keeps his hands low which help him spot the shots coming his way, but again, it’s asking for trouble against someone with Khan’s reach and speed (see the Malignaggi fight). He’s a good counter-puncher and he has a bit of pop in his punches, so in that regards, I could see him give Khan – who hasn’t got the best of defenses – a few scary moments.

I think Khan will take a few rounds to get accustomed to Paul’s style, before taking over and cruising to a decision.

But one thing is not in question Maidana Bangs alot harder then any of the above names and Khan was still standing.

I'm not saying Khan has an iron chin but since he increased his weight and improved his conditioning his punch resistance has improved ALOT.

 

One thing we can all be certain about and that is, Khan's punch resistance is poor, whether Paul punches hard enough or catches Amir clean enough is an other matter.But I have a feeling that if Paul survives the initial onslaught from Khan, he could spring a surprise on the champion.

 

Yeah, Paul is certainly no feather-fisted fighter, and the shots which you don't see are the most dangerous ones. There's every bit the possibility that Paul could knock Khan out at any point.

 

I believe Khan cant fight from mid range because he's not adept enough at the skill. His lack of headmovement is one factor, but his lack experience fighting from that distance is the main reason. Fighting in the pocket is the hardest skill to learn in Boxing, simply because its hard to stand infront of someone, make them miss, make them pay, and not get hit yourself, you have to be able to manipulate angles well, which means you need good upperbodymovement to create those angles, so you dont get hit, and so you can create those angles to punch off.

Amir Khan is far too rigid, naive, inexperienced at that particular skill, to ever be effective from that distance imo, which is probably a result of him relying so heavily on his greatest strength, his athleticism, only that might be harder to do at this level, cause other guys like Bradley can fight from all 3 distances, his one saving grace, might be that whilst Bradley has all the skill, ability to manipulate distance better than him, that he's not that big of a puncher.

People talk about Khan beating Bradley from long range, and whilst he has the speed get off first on him, his reach is only 2 inches longer than Bradley's.

 

you could be right, depends on what Khan's game plan is. I think McCloskey will get stronger the longer the fight goes on but then again my opinion is based on Khan being aggressive early.

I think Khan is going to be very aggressive from quite early in the fight, if he doesn't stop McCloskey in the first few rounds then I think he's going to revert back to moving in and out and throwing very fast combinations and getting out of harms way. Hopefully McCloskey can get inside and start to dictate things and land a few on Khan's chin. McCloskey will have to keep his hands right up around his temple for the first few rounds - I think that this is when Khan will be at his most dangerous.

I think Khan would be better off staying on the outside in the early rounds and forcing McCloskey to come forward, if that happens I could see him picking McCloskey off and clocking up rounds, McCloskey might then be forced to look for a knockout and I could see Khan stopping him in his desperation.

Laz - on the McCloskey camp, I heard he was sparring with Michael 'lights out' Kelly, you might remember him from fighting Frankie Gavin on the magnificient 7 bill, I can't verify this I just heard it third hand
