Media really needs to get their act together!!! Word has it tho that he will be back in Denmark on Saturday...So much for that plan!!! :angry

if boxing is ever going to be a credible sport alongside any other sport, there can only be one world champion in each weight division and we can't afford to credit bogus titles because it credits the federations...

kessler was always the best fighter to fight calzaghe, but calzaghe was always the legitimate SMW champ.

kessler had a paper belt - thats all

Calzaghe was not the legitimate champion until he fought Kessler, imo.

maybe...but lacy came to fight calzaghe, not kessler.

the federations **** with us so we have to use common sense to sort this mess out.

calzaghe - kessler was definitely the biggest and most meaningful fight at SMW

Kessler is a worthy world champion, more so than the likes of Bute and Stieglitz

Id call Kessler a world champ, I would have had him at #1 after Calzaghe's moved up.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, the biggest mistake boxing fans make is that they view boxing as a sport. Boxing is essentially two guys who agree to have a dust up for money. It is not really a sport so much as a business venture. There is no central governing body and aside from the rules of the contest on the night almost all the other parameters are negotiable. For a professional boxer there is no other influence on their match-up decisions other than how they can make the most money, whether from a short term or long term perspective. Boxers only care about things like titles so they can leverage more money for their future bouts.

I'm sure if Mayweather or Pacquiao had been in SA training the media would have covered that.Maybe that shows where Kessler is on the food chain. No disrespect he was a good fighter though he could only move in straight lines and Ward showed how great Kessler was by not stopping him in one round.

To say the media didnt cover,If he was training in Gugulethu the Gugulethu Times would surely cover that if he was in Soweto I'm sure the Sowetan would cover that.If he went down to Germiston those boers are crazy about sport and their newspaper would definitely pick that up.

Damn shame they didn`t find the time for a little report! But maybe he just wanted to escape the danish winter for a while, and enjoy the sun.

That's the sad thing, its not even about being on the food chain...Not many fighters come to these shores to train...So whether it be Pac, Mayweather, Cotto or even Clottey for that matter its a HUGE thing! But noooo they would rather write about sum bumb Heavyweight that they hoping to be the next big thing!!!

Chances are Mikkel was prob down in Cape Town I guess...taking in the sites
