Morales is skilled enough to outbox Maidana and sturdy enough to take a good shot here and there.

    Exactly.

For all of his power, his means of delivering that power is pretty straight forward. He doesn't exactly deliver it with Pacquiao's speed. Morales can brace himself for the shots he sees coming and box circles around Maidana in between those shots.

There are'nt enough of us here that know errsta......

I've been in avid boxing fan for 30 years now, and have seen too much to know not to dismiss a fighter the skill level and know how of Erik Morales.......even in this declined state of his.

This matchup so much parrallels Roberto Duran vs Iran Barkley......

Duran at that time had been blitzed and knocked out by Tommy Hearns five years earlier, and had been decisioned by Haglers half brother Robbie Simms 3 years before that Barkley fight.

Durans fights in the interem leading to the Barkley fight were against journeyman, and he was'nt even looking good in those fights......in fact the fight before Barkley against a journeyman, Duran only squeeked by with a split decision........

Then comes the Iran Barlkey fight for Duran. Barkley was fresh off of KTFO Tommy Hearns in three rounds.....
....and I dont have to tell you that Duran was given zero chance by the critics to even compete vs Barkley when that matchup was announced.
Barkley a huge puncher towered over Duran.......

It sends chills down my spine even reminicing about it, but to shorten a much longer story, Duran unlike his previous outing vs journeman, is up for it, takes Barkley very serious and trains like a madman......

What Duran was able to do in that fight with Barkley is something for the ages.......but let me tell you, it had so much to do with styles, Barkley crude and come foward, very predictable......a style made to order for aging great like Duran.
That and the ego and pride that comes along with the name Roberto Duran, that greats have a sense of pride to protect.......

Its not easy to say what an aging once great can bring to a ring from fight to fight........
Morales vs Maidana, it reminds me so much of the circumstances that surrounded the great Duran that night vs Barkley.
If Morales can muster up half against Maidana that Duran mustered up that night against Barkley, we're in for witnessing on April 9th another great night for the ages!:yep:bbb

I am afraid Maidana will Fuk Up Morales World Big Time:-(

Morales is old man, going up in weights, he is washed up against young Lion, beats of a light welter who hits hard and is hungry as hell..

This is not gonna end up good for morales...

I'm hoping Maidana's training problems will leave him not properly prepared and Morales is able to last 12 without getting seriously hurt.

  8. Great post, it kinda gets my hopes up for a great fight at least. I still think Morales is more bravado than anything else these days.

    :good

If not for that eye injury in the first round Morales would have won this.

It was super close in any case and Morales looked close to stopping Chino at one point.

    It was a great fight.
