Well lets see Larry was Ko'd by WHITE Nick Wells 2 times at the height of his amateur career and as Ali put it gave up vs WHITE Duane Bobick....Mike Weaver who gave Larry all he could handle and he came in with an 19-8 record and Weaver was beaten by 2 white fighters Duane and Rodney Bobick in his pro career and Weaver was so tough Holmes would not rematch or unify So much for the White-Black Ratio...by the way no way the Bobicks were anywhere near to that White German Max Schmeling in skill or punching level
Yes,,,,,,,,,,,Jeff 'Candy Slim' Merritt did say Larry Holmes had a 'mustard seed' for a heart. So Larry was stopped '4' times in the amateurs by white guys, and Teofilo Stevenson was beaten by Duane Bobick...... Mike Weaver, came out of nowhere to become one helluva fighter for a few years. Duane Bobick may have given Max Schmeling a good scrap.
nope.... Bobick couldn't avoid the right hand for his life... He gets stopped in the first 3 rounds :yep
Sorry Chief,,,,,,,,, Duane Bobick never lost to or was knocked down by anybody less than 210 lbs. :deal ever! Max at 190 lbs.,,,,,,,had the right hand only,,,,,,,too small.
this size **** again? Thought you were above this! Max still showed devestating power and could certainly stop bobick. Bobick is a guy who lost to Norton, John freakin tate, Knotzee, and CHAPLIN! Schmelling managed to beat Louis at least and become heavyweight champion! way better then anything Bobick acomplished. Bobick was smaller but not better. He had a glass chin, and never learned how to slip or block a right hand properly. Schmelling would counterpunch and find that chin.
Geez,,,,,,,,,,,,,didn't der Max have some embarrassing losses too....... Duane suffered from the big right hand, by hard punching heavyweights. The George Chaplin fight was on cuts.
according to max baer, schmelling had him out of his feet,so if he can shook the steel-chinned baer,he's got some power no doubt
yes but he rose to the elite level and never failed like bobick did. I would consider schmellings right hand to not only be hard but fast. bobick wouldn't be able to avoid it
Hey,,,,,,, Franz Diener went 15 Rounds with Der Max,,,,,,,,,,no problem. Obviously Max,,,,,a much better and more complete fighter. Scott LeDoux may have gone the distance with Max,,,,225+ lbs.
That would be a foolish thing to say.... Max Schmeling vs Mike Weaver would be a very interesting tangle.
A Holmes win wouldn't suprise me, but I'd be suprised if he didn't have some scary moments. A Louis win wouldn't suprise me, but I'd be suprised if it wasn't an uphill battle.
