This thread in the general forum is a horrible idea. Many don't know who Benitez is and most don't know who Pep is.

The fact that theres only 2 votes for Willie Pep is absurd.

Sweet Pea, but so much of that comes from natural reflexes. I always like a guy like Winky Wright more who to me has the perfect southpaw defensive style.

Roy's defense wasn't technically good, but he was very good at avoiding punches from his natural and athletic abilities

...'the ****? He was extremely hard to tag flush on, let alone with a combination, in his prime. Using your athleticism for defense doesn't age well, but when you have that kind of athleticism, it works pretty ****ing good while you can do it. To say the defense wasn't there is ridiculous. It was there, and during his prime, it was elite.

Thomas Hearns missed with bodyshots against Wilfred Benitez. That was amazing. Wilfred actually bent his body.

Roy's defense was his offence. He was such a great counterpuncher with speed, that guys didn't just go tops on him. When he got older he lost his speed and then guys started to hit him.

Probably Mayweather, as he's not as slick as Whitaker and avoids more punches at close quarters
