I actually agree with this, providing the fight is at 168 (where Calzaghe was the most comfortable).

Calzaghe takes a tight (tight) decision win... Monzon starts to catch up during the home stretch but loses too many early rounds.

Calzaghe would be competitive, don't get me wrong, but I see Monzon stopping him late.

Cazaghe without broken hands - UD12 easily if not a late stoppage, footspeed and angles too sharp for Carlos.

Calzaghe with broken hands - Monzon KO 5/6 he'd just walk him down regardless of his guile, he'd know Joe couldn't punch him out and would step forward and put Calzaghe to the sword.

On the assumption its at 168 then JC clearly in close fight ala Kessler.

Monzon a great fighter - Joe was too

My problem with this is that JC hurt everybody he fought - at least he hurt them enough. JC's hands were ****ed by time he fought Lacy - are you saying "that" JC wouldn't have been good enough?

Monzon would be propably welterwieght or light middle today.

Nobody has ever been able to walk down Calzaghe. No one. Not even Bernard Hopkins and he pulverized punchers like Pavlik and Pascal and would likely be a handful for everyone else in this generation even at his advanced age.

Monzon wasn't a huge guy by today's standards.

Calzaghe when he rehydrates goes four to five pounds over the Light Heavyweight Limit when he was in the 168 division.

Anyone who thinks Monzon can crack Calzaghe when larger men couldn't is dreaming. And whenever Calzaghe went down, he ALWAYS got up. You can't say he'd be knocked out because he's never been knocked out. The last two fights he got knocked down, he was over 36 years old.

    Exactly this.

Calzaghe might not have the greatest resume, but the guy was a machine that just didn't stop... and is a H2H nightmare against anyone from Welter to Super Middleweight.
