This is not who beats who, we can all agree that Tyson would likely knock wlads head off early in the fight. Rather, which one of these guys will have a better legacy in the HW division. I know Wlad isnt done yet, lets assume he continues on for say 4 more years without a loss and beats everyone in front of him. Who has the better legacy.
Tyson. the way he came along this knockout machine and cleaned out a division of guys like Tony Tubbs, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tucker, Bonecrusher Smith, Trevor Berbick. Tyson had a much bigger impact than the Klitchkos.
Tyson, he single handedly took a dying division and brought it back to life in record quick time. Youngest ever HW champ, Undisputed champ for a few years and never had a dull fight. WALDO on the other hand has nothing but dull fights and he took a dying division and along with his big sister choked the life out of it.
Too bad Tyson didn't retire after he knocked out Spinks. He might be rated 1-3 in the heavyweight ranking and top 15 ever.
True enough, I still remember the excitment in the air when Tyson fought. Everyone wanted to be close to a tv and everyone knew a knockout of some kind was coming. It was fairly magical and for a few years, it was thought that Tyson was indestructable and would go down in history as the greatest heavyweight ever. That's why the Douglas upset was such big news. Personally I think if he'd a quite after knocking out Spinks, 3rd would have been too low. It would have been him against Ali and likely most would have picked Tyson to beat Ali, and on that basis, he likely would have been rated number 1 by most people. Certainly no lower than 2.
Tyson beat Michael Spinks, Marvis Frazier and David Jaco. Yeah he was schooled and KO'd by Buster Douglas while in his prime but his great wins negate this.
Seriously? If Wlad beats everyone in front of him for 4 years, then yes I'd give it to Wlad. That would mean Wlad dominated the division for over 10 years, not even counting his early WBO title reign. He'd be getting up there in the company of Ali, Lewis, and Holmes in terms of stature. Tyson was only the dominant guy at heavyweight for about 4 years, and when he came back he was not quite the same fighter. If we were talking about who has the better legacy now, I'd give it to Tyson, but if Wlad's next 4 years are similar to his last 4 years, there won't be many names you could put ahead of him. Btw if we are just talking about who gave heavyweight boxing the most publicity, then of course it's Tyson--however I don't think that's the question being asked.
