It depends on one's performance year to year. Not on talent or past performance. Otherwise, SRL, Duran or Hagler would still be there.
Nice list. :deal Thank you! Somebody with a brain!!! My top 5 looks like this. 1. Mayweather Jr. 2. Martinez 3. Donaire 4. JMM 5. Pac
Yup, I'd say smaking the crap out of Genaro Hernandez and Angle manfredy back to back in two months as a 22 year old kid was pretty impressive. Shutting out an undefeated diego corrales, beating Oscar and Mosely were pretty impressive wins too. But daire I say it this donaire kid might have mayweather type talent. You can make the arguement that all of these wins were better but to be frank it certainly ranks up there. Add in his win over Vic and its pretty easy to get excited over this guy.
Donaire is top 3 no doubt! since Mayweather is retired 1. Pac 2. Marquez 3. Donaire/Martinez 58. Montiel This content is protected
Its a list of all things being equal whose currently the best fighter. The only thing fighting once does is add ring rust into the equation. Aging adds decreased stamina, durravility, reflexes and coordination. As long as a guy's not retired he gets ranked as long as he's better then someone else he gets ranked higher.....not sure what you don't get about that.
Np dude. I think people sometimes try to treat p4p lists the sameway as divisional rankings when in reality the idea was developed for completely different reasons.
You can't say "all things are equal" for Floyd and Manny when the latter rarely fights. He fights only once a year. He's de facto retired this year. How can you ever justify his ranking w/ a zero performance. Floyd should be disqualified this year if he fails to fight.
It's about skill and ability, not your last fight or even your resume. Sit down davebenoit, grown folks are talking.
Boxing world is glad you're not the owner of Ring Magazine who has been proclaiming Pacquiao #1 for almost 4 years. Ring Magazine who has initiated this activity for decades, based on your logic are peopled with guys who have no brains.
If you want to take him off your list cause you think he's retired then by all means go ahead. I got no problem with that. But dropping him to 4 cause you don't like how often he fights...thats missing the point.
According to one guy here who claims to have brains, Floyd should be there whether he's active or not because of his talent and past performance. That's his yardstick of P4P ranking.
