I knew something like this would happen eventually.

What move did Lozito use to stop his attacker?

    A armbar?

    A triangle choke?

    ??????

Edit. It seems he used a leg sweep to bring his attacker to the ground.

You know what, I bet Dana White set this whole thing up to get MMA legal in New York.

In time it will all be revealed eventually...

TBH a single leg is the last thing I'd do to a knife-wielding nutjob.

There's many things you could do. Fortunately for this guy what he did worked. Nobody can say for certain what they'd do in this situation...Even if they actually trained for it.
I'd hope I would dodge the knife, and counter, OR simply control the hand in which the knife is in without getting to cut up and fight him, but I can't say for certain. One thing I can say is nobody is killing me without them having to earn it a little bit. I don't even consider myself afraid of death, but I'm just amazed at all the people whom go down without a fight.
I'm happy, and proud of this guy. Maybe Dana White feels the same way (hopefully)...Unless he's trying to get some publicity...Hard to tell what that guys intentions truly are.

The reason I love unarmed combat is because it is a level playing field and generally the best man on that night wins. Even the chance for luck is significantly reduced i.e. I'm not going to get a lucky punch on any pro fighter. When you involve knives, guns etc then it is open to any number of possibilities. There are ways to handle the situation but the element of death from one move is a whole new ball game.

In a knife wielding moment, I would like to think I'd use my knowledge to strike or apprehend the attacker when he lifts his arm to attack or when he has struck with it and I've lived to retaliate. You don't want to get involved as the guy is thrusting it.

you dont have many options in a subway car. There really is not space to get all technical on the attacker, plus Joe Lozito was in a sitting position when attacked.

This is some on-the-fly **** we are talking about here.
