Donaire (today) versus the Pac that beat Ledwaba: who wins and how?

I lean on Pac.
ND is more polished, older but he has yet to face a typhoon like young Pac.
Pac faced MAB and EM - both technically savy fighters with decent power.

Pac was faster @ 122 than he is now. It should be a good fight but pac wins by tko

 

Would be a great fight but Pac probably overwhelms Donaire and stops him. Pac at 122 was even faster than Donaire is at 118, faster and more powerful and so unorthodox it would be hard for Donaire to time him.

Add the size advantage Pac would hold and it's a no brainer

I am assuming a weight of 122.

That version of Pac was already a world champion at flyweight and proceeded to destroy a world champion in Ledwaba, and so was clearly "world class" already. Although not yet what he was to become, essentially the version of Pac you are talking about shortly afterward destroyed a pretty close to prime Barrera (easy HOFer) and was able to knock down a prime JMM three times in the first round. With that devastating power at the lower weights, there's no guarantee at all Donaire could have beaten even that version of him.

But Donaire looks pretty great, so who knows?

 

You have to keep in mind that the Pac of the Ledwaba fight is way bigger than Donaire of today. Pac was probably at his fastest and punched P4P the hardest in those weights as well. Back then, he didn't have to catch you with a shot you didn't see to drop you, he just had to catch you flush with his straight left and you would go down. Except for Sanchez, he won all his fights at 122 via KO/TKO and of those wins, all but 1 were w/in 6 rounds.

Sure Pac wasn't as polished back then, but he was just a physical monster, his old alias back then was "the destroyer", and he really was just that.

I have no doubt that it would be a great fight and that technique wise Donaire is better now than Pac was then, but Pac would just overwhelm Donaire. Too big, too fast, too relentless, too much.

Put up a poll. Donaire and he does it very easy. Donaire is almost the Filipino version of Floyd. But that was a one dimensional version of Manny though where he was also a one handed fighter with no defense and prone to counterpunches.

 

that was just my guess in the aftermath of donaire's demolition job on montiel. tbh, i have only seen some donaire fights and i would have to rewatch some old pac fights. pac always had serious power knocking virtually all his opponents at the lighter weights. so i could be wrong.
