"loyd does not have the same ability to move around the ring he once did. Nor does he throw in combination much any longer. Both of these things were in evidence in the Shane Mosley fight."

    oh really?

says who? freddie roach?...i mean we know freddie said he didnt have legs after the fight....but what did he say before it? oh thats right he said floyd would win by getting on his bike right?!

theres now way floyd fought like that to make a statement huh?....cause its not like everybody was expecting him to potshot and run around the ring agaisnt mosley...most thought there was no way hed stand in front of him......and so because he did....we draw the conclusion he cant move around the ring anymore huh?

From his early career, he has definitely slowed...but I can't say I have seen (maybe just slightly) signs of his handspeed slowing. If you watch the Hatton bout, then the Mosley bout...I would say he has slowed ever so slightly. But saying that, he looked as fast and sharp as he ever has been at Welter against Marquez.

If he does fight on, and he does step in with Pacquiao...you can pretty much guarantee he will be smothering his opponents offense as much as possible...maybe even more than he has done previously.

Yall look into deeper than what it is. He's been boxing for nearly 30 years. He's tired of it. Unless he runs into financial trouble he's not coming back. It's the ONLY reason he came back out of retirement. The Marquez/Mosley fights paid him pretty good so he's back on track.

Maybe he changed his style for the Mosley fight, to quiet critics.

I doubt that though, personally. But maybe that's what it was.

Ditto with Pac, who has been a professional longer than Floyd has.

At some point, it's time to move on.

reality is....it was the consensus....just about everybody said it..."only way he beats shane is buy moving...and potshotting...no way he stands in front of shane".....

and he went out and did completely the opposite....

Right, but that doesn't answer why he did it. Did he do it because he had to do it -- he can't move like he once did -- or did he do it to quiet critics?

People like Roach say that Mayweather's legs looked gone, or are going. I agree with that. They're not gone, all the way, they're just not what they once were and aren't going to be again, in my opinion.

Which means more "wars" in the future, or potential ones.

    Pacquiao turns 32 in december...!

Mayweather should be fighting him in November and with the 2 age advantage...manny will still get his ass whooped :D

That is an excellent point. I'm not sure Floyd would want to emulate Nash's (lack of) defensive skills, though.

you can say floyds reflexes are going if youd like....his legs r going....whatever you want

but if yer gonna say...you might as well say "while those things are going...his ring iq and ability to outthink his opponents, and be one step ahead of them, is increasing"

because he looks like hes on another level...

I dont think Arum is going to give him that chance, unless like Shane beats Pac coming up.

Floyd will have one more fight. He craves attention too much to retire yet, but he is aware that he can't keep ducking Pacquiao indefinitely because eventually even his own adoring fans will turn on him - and he patently isn't interested in ever fighting Manny. So I think it's one more payday, and then retirement amidst a bunch of bull**** lies about Pacquiao ducking him, being a cheater, etc etc.

I think the fight will be against Amir Khan, because (a) he's a very winnable fight, and (b) he has Roach in his corner and Floyd would love to get one up on Roach since he's too scared to face Pac.

To the TS - Floyd vs Mosley was not a "war" at all, Floyd had one bad round out of 12.

I think Mayweather is still at the top of his game, the only part of his game which seems to be in decline is his footspeed, but everything else seems intact. He will dominate and destroy Khan, and retire IMO. One of boxing's great underachievers.
