Did Montiel land a solid right before getting dropped?

I keep listening to it and I can hear that sound before Nonito landed the left hook. I think Montiel scored a solid shot. Skip to 2:00. When I saw it live, I thought Donaire was the one who suffered.

If you watch the Sidorenko fight last December, Donaire did axactly the same enticing his opponent to throw that right hand by lowering his left. The right hook thrown by both Sidorenko and Montiel actually did land but with little effect cause Donaire knew exactly that the punch is coming. That right hook isn't solid at all.. Plus Donaire's reach is longer which makes his left-hook even more devastating effect-wise when they simultaneously land..

I think one thing that isn't talked about much is how Nonito really is a hell of a counterpuncher. He waits for the kill or leaves a bait for his opponents instead of going in for the kill. Like RJ said after the fight, Nonito hit Montiel with 2 solid shots after the knockdown and Montiel didn't go down, but it was the one Montiel didn't see coming that hurt him the most. I haven't seen that type of counterpunching in awhile. Fast hands, feet, great positioning and timing.

the right hand montiel threw was a straight right and was thrown more as a simple punch to score points.

nonaire threw a hook and he threw it to get you out of there.

    big difference.

That's his set up. Roll with the right while throwing his counter left.... it surprises them every time.

He confused Montiel in there... Montiel kept thinking he would throw other punches and was not prepared for his unorthodox punch selection at times.

Yup, he set that punch up like a well thought out chess move. Montiel didn't even see it! He got caught up thinking he had something going when he appeared to be in his rythm at that point.

Donaire said he let him get into his rythm to start timing him and see where he was placing his head after each shot. If he is being 100% honest, I give Nonito a good chance against Rigondeaux at 122. Nonito made a big statement in the knock out of Montiel.

Roy did something similar to Malinga but y'all must've forgot about that. Roy caught Malinga with a left hook then rolled Malinga's right hand opposed to Donaire who caught Montiel with a left hook after Montiel brushed his face with the right hand.

3:10 to see Roy's ko over Malinga
