According to the news, Montiel suffered a hairline fractured and there was a dent that would required a plastic surgery.
would top rank shoulder expenses for his surgery? or from kochulitos own pocket? I think he deserves more than 250k
Just wanna say three things: 1. Montiel showed a ton of heart to get up after that punch 2. The ref should have stopped the fight after Montiel tried to get up but fell back down. And: 3. This should have been a contender for KO of the year (doubt it will be now, after the ref let it continue) I think this is why Roy gave him so much props after the fight; I think he sees a lot of himself in Donaire.
I see what you're saying Divac but you should just give it a rest you'll drive yourself insane if you think about that after fights. Fact is until something ever got found out or whatever we'd never know so there's no point in wrecking your brain about it. I'd never seen anything like Cotto's face after Margarito but if it wasn't for Richardson we'd never have known. Btw I am not saying Donaire was using loaded gloves before people jump on that Just pointing out that we don't know what goes on behind the scenes until it comes out.
Oh come on man, i admit you have some pretty good insights in this forum:good but one cant deny how obvious some of your agenda's are. :hey
All those "Could it be, that.." and "Could it be possible, that.." questions that I always see on those UFO, Moon Landing hoax, JFK, etc. conspiracy theory TV programs. Sowing the seeds of doubt. Who knows, maybe it'll grow, if somebody waters it enough.
If what you're saying is true, then the commisions have been CONSISTENT in approving both Pacquiao and Donaire's handwraps. So yeah stop with the conspiracy theories. If the explanation that the commissions approved them is not good enough for you, you're just being stubborn
c'mon divac... why do you always have to drag pac's name into every discussion even if the topic clearly doesn't involve him? as a fanatical jmm fan, you just really hate pac that much, do you? and about these handwraps... this all started with dlh's handwraps for the pac fight. the boxing commission approved of it even when roach was protesting about it. i guess roach and afterwards, robert garcia found out that it was legal after all to tape the knuckles like that according to the boxing commission. and what the hell is this about robert garcia having photos of pac's handwraps? you're clearly dreaming all this stuff up in an effort to discredit pac and uplift the status of your own favorite boxer. and sadly, this just further confirms your intense hatred of him. let go of your hate, man. it's consuming you inside and destroying your love for this sport which is the reason why we are all here in this forum in the first place.
Calling it a "dent" suggests the underlying structure in the area is solid. Like if I squeeze an apple you will see a depression where my fingers applied the force. The injury Montiel suffered is more like cracking the handle on a coffee mug, rather than smashing a hole in the mug itself. It doesn't take a lot of force to break this bone, which is why I'm surprised it doesn't occur more often. Once it breaks, the tension in the area changes and causes it to appear sunken. This has nothing to do with ridges on wraps. Maybe this will put your mind at ease. Go to this link and examine the lateral and inferior views in particular: http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bio201/skull/skulltt.htm
Montiel is getting reconstructive surgery to fix it, from news reports. Cracked by the punch for sure. If you Google that term you can see from the images in the search result what the arch looks like on the skull and see how it can be cracked and leave a dent.
Here's a picture of the bone. I bet that this has actually been broken in fights before. How could it not be? And watch the replay. That is a lot of impact on exactly that part of the face. But it's not really a dent. It just shows up looking like a dent because the previously protruding structure is now lowered. http://www.upstate.edu/cdb/grossanat/imgs/sklatza.jpg
I dont believe his wraps were loaded, but I can speculate that Roberto Garcia wrapped Nonito's hands exactly as Pacquiao did vs Margarito, ......a type of a handwrap procedure that forms and leaves high ridges at the knuckle area of a fighter. a procedure in which Roberto Garcia vehemently protested to the commision was dangerous and that when he was wrapping Margarito, that inspector instructed him that the area above the knuckles had to be completely flat with no ridges....... ......Garcia protested Pacquiao's high ridges to no avail....... Now, I dont know that in fact this is what occured and that Nonito carried with him those high ridges on his handwraps, I can only speculate that he may have because of the dent in Montiel's face. If the knuckle area is not wrapped flat, I can certainly see one of the higher ridges on those knuckles concentrate more pressure in that certain area of the fist and cause a break or a dent to the bone structure of a fighters face. Margarito's orbital bone on his face was fractured by a single Pacquiao shot, and Pacquiao had the high ridges that Garcia had protested about. Again, I am not accusing Donaire or Garcia his trainer, but can only speculate that Garcia may have taken advantage of knowing that the inspectors let it slide with Pacquiao against Margarito. Now personally from a fans point of view, I think the powers that be in boxing should look into the matter, not to discipline Donaire or his trainer Garcia, but to find out if Roberto Garcia wrapped Donaire's hands with the high ridges as the knuckes. The commision should find out exactly what and why the Montiel camp protested Donaire's handwraps........ If an investigation were to find that Garcia did wrap Donaire's hands with the high ridges, then that should be a red flag to inform commison inspectors not to let future fighters have ridges on their knucke area, but to wrap as Margarito was instructed for Pacquiao, to have a flat surface at the knuckle area. Now I dont think thats too much to ask. Instruct inspectors, "watch for high ridges at the knuckle as we've had two high profile fights now where fighters with those ridges have caused fractures on their opponents face. Thats all I'm ****ing saying brother, because obviously Nonito walked into his fight with Montiel with the handwraps approved by boxing commision inspectors. It may be that these high ridges (which I can see may be the culprit in causing fractures) may be what is causing these breaks on other fighters face bones, to which this last one made by Donaire (what appears like a dent, I have never before seen on a fighter in my 31 years as a fan. Its unbelievable to me that some of you are bothered because someone is questioning and speculating about something they have neve seen before in boxing. "Oh no no no, Nonito is a concussive puncher, he may be p4p the most powerful fighter boxing has ever seen." ......please, I've seen Big George Foreman and Mike Tyson hammer away at helpless opponents and I've never seen a dent on any of their victims faces........Hearns, Arguello, Julian Jackson, all the huge punchers....... I think it worth discussing whether there was some merit to Montiel's camp prefight complaint to the inspector about Nonito's handwraps, especially since Donaire's trainer happens to be Roberto Garcia, the victimized trainer of the way Pacquiao was allowed to wrap vs Margarito.
I write out a well written post full of facts and pertinent thoughts and opinions, and as usual, you're not qualified and too dumb rebutt any of it!:nut
