    LOL

I seen a clip of Martin Vargas the other day, a first round KO over Luis Sarria. He looks better than I thought he would, as I remember Canto pretty much out-classing him and Gushiken beating an old version.

Seems to have been some puncher.

    Ebihara
    Ohba
    Laciar
    Kingpetch
    Accavallo
    Arbachakov
    Gonzalez
    Chionoi
    Chitalada
    Johnson

Really tough though.Could easily switch most of the top 5 or even 7 around.

Maybe harsh on Chitalada but he had a few too many close calls and was weight drained for the latter half of his reign.Him and Arbachakov probably had the smallest window of being at their peak.

Chionoi the least technically talented, but fought excellent comp and was tough to beat\capable of upsets, even if he got a bit lucky a few times.

Gonzalez is tough to rate. Not the most talented...a no-nonsense workhorse more than anything, but again really tough to beat and capable of hanging evenly with greater stylists and sluggers alike..more than the sum of the parts.Got so many chances he kind of pisses me off though.

Johnson suffers from the worst competition.Jiminez while pre-prime and a few aging Arbachakov retreads were his best opponents and he struggled with the best of them.

lora why dont you rate Accavelo that highly?

He seems to have been pretty dominant when he was champion with some good wins, and looks good on film.

Chinoi to me is terrible on film and lost to the best fighters he fought, McGowan aside where he got very lucky.

That was just a quickly done list Greg. Most of these fighters are very close i'd say.

As for Accavallo, i do rate him, but he wasn't dominant as a champ, most of his fights with the better contenders were tooth and nail. There may well be a case to be made that he aguably lost every world title fight he had.Of course that says more about the depth of the era imo, than it does Accavallo being a sven ottke.

The Ebihara fights were both very controversial at the time in Japan, not sure how they were seen in argentina.I've only watched the 2nd complete and it could certainly have gone either way...wouldn't call it an out and out robbery though, but Ebihara swept the entire first third pretty clearly so i wouldn't be surprised there are those that would.Accavallo's rounds were all won in close fashion.

His title reign, even if it had a lot of close calls, was one of the better in the era. Ebihara and Torres were two of the better fighters.

The same Torres that was beaten 2/3 by the "terrible" Chionoi?

I dont know what your talking about i saw most of Johnsons fights at the forum as a contender and champion and he was dominant in just about every fight.. Except for the Jiminez fight which could have gone either way. No one was really competetive with him again until the end of his career when he was faded. Some of those guys were pretty tough too... Jiminez,Alejandro Montiel,Josue Camacho,Francisco Tejedor,Arthur Johnson(who lost controversial dec to a prime Tapia) Enrique Orozco,Jorge Lacierva among others were all good fighters.. And Johnson beat most of them fairly easy (including blowouts over Johnson,Tejedor and Espino). Take a look at some of these guys records and fights and you will see they were good, Johnson was just that much better.

HTH Mark Johnson is the best flyweight ive ever seen, and also has a very good resume

^ At his best Johnson was brilliant and atheistically one of the best flyweights Ive seen aswell...Just mindboggling speed.

But given the history of the division his resume falls short of very good anarci...its just not very strong at all.
