He threw some hellacious body shots in the second half of that fight, I give credit to S-K for taking them. No one is saying Jones is perfect, of course he can improve that's why he's referred to as a prospect, but he has the tools to be awesome and combined with his obvious willingness to get in the gym and perfect his craft I don't see why anyone would doubt his ability to make some serious noise in this division.
i like jones dont get me wrong, i think he'd kick berthoes ass, he needs to learn some footwork and how to sit down in his punches better but karass is the 99cent store version of margarito.
Pimp sadly your boy Jones is hopeless. He's a gatekeeper at best. Weak legs and he always circles around and No stamina. If that was Margarito who was stalking him he'd get killed. Karass's vision was impaired because of the head-butt or it would have been a closer fight like the first one. Plus, Jones build is way bigger in his division i wonder if he can make 147 next time.. Maybe his punches were weak in the 2nd fight cause he's weight-drained.. Looks like it.. I think he'll be stronger at 154..
His footwork is effective enough, although he gets hit too much for his style. He just needs to be a bit more deliberate with it, as right now he relies a bit too much on his quick legs and athleticism. In the meantime his good chin and superb offense while moving backward make up for the existing defensive openings his rushed jogs create so far.
I think if he switches over with Roger Mayweather, they can be a good match. He can teach him some better defense and inside fighting
Jones looked good Saturday night I scored it 10-2, it would have been good to see him get the ko since Karass was there for it but still a good perfomrance. It was good to see him improve from their first fight to this one. He fought the rematch like he should have the first fight. Karass is a tough but limited fighter and Jones should have beaten him like this the first time and showed real improvement in his game. Arum says he'll be back in June and is hoping to get him against the winner of Berto-Ortiz. That fight won't happen in June but if Jones wins his June fight and Berto finally gets rid of his mandatory Aydin sometime this summer that would set up a very nice fight at the end of the year between Berto-Jones.
Mikes Jones has the makings of a quality fighter. He is going to be hell for anyone at welterweight. Right now, I'd pick him to beat Andre Berto and Kell Brook both.

He's not hopeless and he's not a gatekeeper. He's a guy still learning and has the combination of great skill and speed. The guy can flat out box when he elects to. He would have given Margo hell with his movement speed body work and combo punching. He beats Margo by UD. Margo's day in the sun is over he's a finished fighter, while the skys the limit for Jones.
