I love this match-up... Baer of '33 against Foreman of '74 would be bonafide to the max... Neither can or could truly box for ****... This comes down to willpower and durability... In the end, Foreman wins by brutal KO... This prolly looks much like Foreman's KO over Lyle of 1976.... See-saw to the end....

Let´s see both have tremendous power, both have great chins. I doubt either one will knock the other one out. I know Ali KOed George but that was from exhaustion. Louis stopped Baer but he didn´t KO him. Max quit. Max has a stamina advantage and can actually box of the backfoot, George is the bigger and stronger man. I think the pre-Ali Foreman has enough ruthlessness to get a mercy stoppage in the midrounds. Schmeling had Baer seriosuly hurt, so I think Foreman could do so too. He won´t knock him out but he will hurt him and then pound away, the ref steps in and stops it.
The post-Ali Foreman, the one who fought Lyle get´s stopped himself. See what Lyle did. Baer was better and hit harder. Late round stoppage for Max around the 10th.
90s Foreman would be get stopped in the midrounds after beeing terribly beaten up.

 

could be a great fight Max had a first rate chin as did Foreman and both huge punchers the only one to knock Max out in his prime was Louis and the only one to knock out Foreman was Ali. Yep a great fight for sure and a great matchup.

In a weird way, they play right into each others hands. Foreman. Not that if two unbelievably powerful guys go at it that either can't be stopped, but I think Foreman is much more likely the man to end it first. Really, I don't favor anyone to take a slugger style victory over a prime George Foreman. Shavers has that case to be the harder puncher, and some other heavies have a case to be a better p4p puncher, but George's size+punch+total body physical strength+durability+plus perhaps some slightly warped, demented mentality (pre-Ali) make him just the worst double-hard ******* to slug with no matter who you are.

 

I feelthat Baer gets overrated here. He had 13 losses for a reason and I don't see him destroy Frazier early. I don't see Foreman struggling with Braddock either. Baer was very aggressive and hard hitting, but if someone wasn't intimidated his wild punches could be seen and blocked or avoided.

 

I think we have to make Foreman the favourite here because he was a far more consistent performer. He tended to find a way to win while Baer often found inventive ways to loose.

Overall though a competitive fight and definitely one that could go either way. On paper at least they are fairly evenly matched.

Cool little fight... Foreman probably stops him in a back and forth battle... Baer might floor him though if Lyle and Young can do it...

 

Foreman takes it. A 2 handed power puncher vs. a 1 handed power puncher. Max had only one weapon really and that was his right. George had a powerful right and left and a very good jab when he chose to use it. If Max had a jab he would've done much better against Louis by maximizing his 80 inch reach but he didn't. Baer's only hope in this fight is to land enough right handed bombs to stop George in his tracks but I don't see that happening. Foreman in 3 or 4 rounds in a brawl.

 

In their "exhibition" Max laid out King Levinski with a left hook. Most of the best shots he landed on Louis were also hooks. Shortly before the end, he was exchanging hard jabs with Schmeling in mid ring. A speed deficit compromised his effectiveness when dealing with the likes of Louis and Loughran, but that wouldn't be so much of an issue with Foreman. Decision wins over the aforementioned Levinski 2X and in the Farr rematch over the championship limit would have been challenging to pull off with nothing more than a power right.

 

Foreman.....Big George would keep the distance with his jab and TKO him......
