Was or is Big Geroge The Hardes Puncher in The Heavyweight Of All Times ?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Marciano, Feb 23, 2011.

  1. George Foreman was the most powerfull Heavy of all time , for sure he hit the hardest , whether Ali said It was Shavers you really cant base your argument on that , Ali said alot of things many were not true

Never heard this before. Anyway, watching Foreman and Shaver's punches on film. To me it seems that Foreman could knockdown a tree.

He might not be the hardest puncher but he sure is the luckiest one.

Foreman has to be up there, but Shavers, Louis, Tyson probably get the nod. Other hard punchers have to include Jack Johnson, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, Wladimir Klitschko, Rocky Marciano, Lennox Lewis, and Corrie Sanders.

That's probably the extent of your knowledge of Foreman.

Not against Quarry or Cobb. Just goes to show that on any given' night ya might not be able to "bring it" they way you usually can, hence the Foreman/Ali outcome. If I had to pick the hardest hitting heavy I'd still vote Big George nine outta' ten times :bbb:good

He's up there but anecdotal evidence suggests Shavers had more pure power

Ali stood there laughing while Foreman was hitting him in the face?
Maybe in a cartoon version of the fight. According to George, he had nothing behind his punches that night and had very little stamina. He says he was much stronger in his comeback than he was on that night. It just happens. Sometimes the best pitchers in baseball throw batting practice in a game. All credit to Ali for his great victory on that particular date in time. :good
