1,2,3,4,5,2,3 is one that my trainer has the team doing, CONSTANTLY. That combo would be: Jab, Straight Right, Left Hook, Right Uppercut, Left Uppercut, another straight right, and another left hook. I honestly haven't thrown it on the mitts yet, but it's nice on the bags.

People throw waaay to many ounches in combos on the bag/mitts. Realistically in the amateurs, 3 punches or maybe 4 is the biggest combo you'll ever land

Definitely agreed. Like i said, never tried on the mitts. Way too many punches to consider using in a match.

Jab (head), Cross (body), Left Hook (head).
Jab (head), Cross (body), Left Uppercut (head).
Jab (body), Cross (head), Left Uppercut (head).

I'm a shorter fighter too, so I usually try to catch taller opponents off guard by varying my attack to the head and body.
For example, in the third combo, the jab to the body usually causes my opponent to bring his lead hand down a little bit in an attempt to parry my body shot, that helps set up the right hand to the head.

EDIT: Just a note, when throwing the cross to the body, make sure your head changes levels (i.e. make sure you bend at the knees when delivering that cross). That'll help lessen the chance of getting counterpunched.

the mitts are great for technique and what should be emphasized on the mitts that isn't the same on the bag is the rolling under the hooks and reacting with your hook or upper-cut. dodging jabs and straights and actually every punch should be learned on the mitts. the bag should really be used for power in my opinion. your combos that you learn to perfect on the mitts should be practised on the bag with power.

Agreed. Mittwork is supremely important for defense and punching technique. The bag is good for power, footwork, and stamina.
