Pretty much this. He wants to talk his way into the HW picture instead of earn his place in it.

The $$$ potential fighting him is next to none, as is any praise from beating him at this point in his career. He needs to get in the ring, beat some ranked opponents, and earn it.

On how often he plans to fight following his upcoming fight given his recent inactivity:

" 'I would love to fight. If I could have I would have fought ten more times, but it’s not my fault. Everybody is ducking me and dodging me and refusing. I’m only in it to give the fans the best fights. If they can’t have that, then hey I give it a try. I want to fight at least seven or eight more times before I retire and hopefully most of them will be big fights.' "

All he had to do was beat Sam Peter and he would have had a chance to hold the WBC belt and a match with Vitali when he returned from his retirement. But he lost both times. Or even before that, if he just beat Rahman to win it out right. But he didn't. He has only himself to blame. He even went so far as to get outboxed by Sam Peter for 12 rounds losing by 8 or more points on all the score cards.

On whether he views Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather as the Pound-for-Pound King in boxing:

“I can’t tell you until they fight. That’s the only way. Some people go with Mayweather now. I’ve known Manny for the last fifteen years. I’d say it’s a tossup. All I can tell you is James Toney is the best fighter overall now, period! Nobody has more skills than me. Everybody wants to be like me, but they aren’t like mine.”

James Toney has not only insulted David, but also his millions of fans and all of England. I reckon David will drop everything, throw caution to the wind and make this irreverent Yank pay dearly for his insults. It is a matter of honour and David never takes the easy way when honour is involved, especially when the public demand it.

Its not his boxing which is the discussion on this thread.

Toney makes Roger Mayweather sound like he has a PHD.
