So. Johnson is now fighting back at SMW so do you think if he went back to LHW he would lose to Jones? I doubt Kessler with his frame would have a problem carrying a couple of pounds to LHW, and doubt he would have trouble with Jones there. He punches harder than Johnson im sure, and Johnson KOd Jones

I take Kessler for what he is a 2 time WBA and a 2 time WBC champ who was willing to face anyone

 

Ward has one signature win, and several questionable performances.

Any ref worth his pay would have disqualified Ward in the Kessler fight. Jack Reiss did a terrible job. In addition, Kessler was already having eye problems before that fight. That's the reality behind Ward's best win.

Miranda and Green are not stylistically very similar, but historically they are about the same over all level. Bute, Pavlik, and even Abraham demolished Miranda. Ward went 12 boring rounds with Edison.

Bute hardly lost a round to Bika, and I believe Glen Jonson would tear Bika a new ******* much like he did Green.

Ward has one questionable win against world class opposition. He has yet to beat a world class fighter who is in his prime, and at his best.

I'm leaning more and more toward Froch winning the S-6.

 

You said ''prime'' Kessler. Prime Kessler is obviously at 168, therefore, the fight would take place at 168. Whether or not he can get up to LHW is irrelevant then. Which means it's Prime Mikkel Kessler(168lbs) vs the super-middleweight Roy Jones Jr, which means the LHW and CW Jones' losses hold no importance.

 

This would be the glass half empty approach.

In my opinion the glass IS half empty. I think my break down was fairly accurate.

I still want to see what happens when Ward pulls some dirty **** on Froch or Pavlik. Let me give you an example. I realize Espino ain't no Andre Ward, but after Smoger warned Espino about low blows several times, he did it again, and KP hit him in the nuts and followed up with an elbow to the face and an uppercut to the chin. Froch has a similar temperment. Win or lose those guys would not stand around playing the gentlman like Kessler did.

Ward's reputation is based to much on speculation, and not enough on in ring performances.

 

:good From what I've actually seen from Froch, he does posses underrated boxing skills...He's a very unorthodox fighter and how he keeps his arms rather low kinda invites you in to only get countered..I must admit he will be a tough fight for Ward if they but also cant forget how Dirrell made Froch look clumsy at times while Kessler had some success with his boxing ability...If Ward doesnt bull**** around with Froch I think he beats by a comfortable UD ( 8-4 IMO.)

Just cant wait to see it if it happens.

 

OK, i'll try to be as objective as possible.

Miranda - Not a special win but this was his first real test against a gatekeeper of this division and he just dominated him. Ward doesn't have a lot of pop so it was a schooling over 12 rounds. But again, nothing special because a lot of people have outboxed Miranda.

Kessler - Great win. Kessler was considered the favorite heading into the Super 6. Most people thought Ward was way too green for the supposed stalwart of the division. The head butts came very late in the fight when he was already dominating Kessler in every facet of the fight.

Green - Green lacks heart but perhaps Ward took a lot of that heart from him in the fight when he had no answer for Ward's inside game. Ward still dominated from 1-12.

Bika - Bika is a much more polished fighter than when he fought Bute and Calzaghe. Bika is a tough out for ANY SMW. A solid win.

I really don't know what you and other retractors expect from him. As i said, he lacks pop so most of his fights will go the distance. But it's the way he beats these guys that i like. Some will say he fights dirty and maybe there is some truth to that but i don't know how you can't see the obvious overall skill in his game. He's very polished. Great inside game, solid outside game. Hand speed, decent jab, great footwork, controls distance well, good defense and has the heart of a champion.

 

Now that would be "the glass half full" approach. It's a good post, but it still calls for a lot of speculation. Ward may very well go on to be the best in the division. However, his lack of punching power can cause real problems against certain opponents; the type of opponents he has yet to prove himself against.

Based on Taylor/Ouma and Pavlik/McKart I predicted Pavlik would knock Taylor out. That was another example of the "glass half full" approach, and I was right. At the end of the day, you may be right about Ward.

when I kept predicting that Andre Ward would "school" Kessler, and I ended up taking all of the nationalistic Anti-Americans' scalps...not only on this board, but in THE ENTIRE OBC (Online Boxing Community)...

Take about a hype job, when this guys falls he will really fall hard

Whats is there to like about this guy in the ring?? His fights are not very entertaining but he seems like a decent guy overall though, just painful to watch in the ring

Sitting on your 0 and fighting more or less in yourback yard every hard fight is one thing, having to travel and take on the challenges out of the comfort zone is different
