Seems like he been working on his footwork. :good Which is exactly what I hoped Stewart would do. And I won't go as far as saying Cotto is a changed fighter, but I will tell you that I have never seen him work mitts at that speed or moving around so much in the process.

He looks the same working the bag.

i read an interview with ande lee and he says cotto only trains slow infront of camera and that when he's at the track he's a beast, he does most of his conditioning at the tracks.

Against Foreman his footwork was spot on

In the lead up to the fight Steward often talked about his movement skills, even his sparring partners commented on the new moving Cotto.

Dont expect the same Cotto that fought Pacquiao, the slow plodding one. Cotto will work his jab against Mayorga and slowly go to the body

I know Stewart has always wanted to work Cotto's footwork, but he didn't have much time to work with Cotto. Now he actually has a full training camp before the Mayorga fight. I think he'll see a much faster Cotto on his feet and I'm praying he does something about Cotto's weakness between his guard. That really the only weakness the man has.

I hate open workouts. Why can't they just film a real one?

Yeah hopefully. But as you said, having a full training camp will hopefully give Steward enough time to heal Cotto's "bad habits"

Im very confident that Cotto will beat Mayorga in a complete mismatch

It would be nice to see Cotto on top of the boxing world again.

However i think Margarito will always be his kriptonite and we will all cry for him in summer. I see the exact same outcome. Specially at 154 where Margarito looks to be growing into. For a 154 weigh in i think Margo will come in at about 170. Also if you compare his frame to his 147 pound days. He looks much much sturdier which is what held him up for 12 against Pac. If i was Cotto i would work on either stamina/clinch strategy or work very hard on his power punching. Sit down in those punches and try to hurt Margarito early.

as a huge cotto fan i agree with this 100%! i think if he can put his warrior pride aside and add some clinching.....easy ud or even a tko for cotto!
of course we really dont know if margo is even the same after the beating he took from shane and pac.

You're my favorite poster on ESB, but I don't agree my man.

Cotto was already beating Margo in their fight. If Margo wasn't cheating (IMO, lets nto make it into a cheating thread) Cotto would have won a decision. The second time around he most def will nto be cheating. Plus Cotto would be a better boxer...which hes already a better techincal boxer than Margarito..and his footwork would be better as well. I think the second fight would be a different story.

Cotto's stamina has always been on point. He threw alot of strong combinations in their first fight. I have never seen Cotto tired.

And the last thing he needs to do is try to knockout Margo. Hes not. He just needs to outbox him for 12 rounds. I believe the only reason why Mosley KO'd Margo is cuz Margo's head wasn't in it after that whole handwrap thing. I think margarito would have killed Mosley if it wasn't for that....especially with his loaded gloves lol.

Yet again thats why they fight the fights my friend.
