Now that boxing has kicked off the year with the bigger fights. I was looking at some odds and i see 3 that i think are definately possible upsets and the odds are pretty damn good. Martinez -500 Dzinzurik +400 Martinez is a great fighter. Has been the underdog in his last 5 fights and arguably won all 5. That piston like job can throw off Martinez. Also the unknown factor. We dont know about about Dzinzurik just like we didnt know much about Martinez. This guy could be great just hasnt had the shots. Im sure he will want to make this one count. Klitschko -700 Solis +500 Vitaly is old and has had plenty of injuries. His last showing was very lackluster. I wouldnt be surprised if age caught up and Solis who is a good fighter himself could take advantage of this. I would put a 20 on this. Berto -380 Ortiz +300 I know i know Ortiz is a coward and he should never be allowed to wear gloves again. The kid came with a very honest interview admitting his wrong and he is trying to find himself. Definitely a tough fight to find your self in with Berto though but then again Berto has been fighting fighters in a lower level than Ortiz and honestly has not looked impressive doing it. I think Ortiz has the power edge and speed i think Berto has the slight edge but its not enough to be a huge factor. The chin Berto has a slight edge. Athletecism is about the same which is what makes this fight intriguing. I dont think Berto hits harder than Maidana. What happens when Ortiz touches up Berto? If Berto can handle it well i think he takes it but i have a feeling he wont. Anyways. those are the possible upsets im thinking on putting money on. Also i would on Acosta as i believe Rios is limited but i can not find enough footage of him. I wish i could. Also does anyone have odds on them. Its 2 days from the fight and i still cant find them.
I cant find them anywhere. I normally bet on bodog but they always wait till the last day to post them for minor fights. Yes this is minor for bodog. So i checked the greek which is normally more ahead of time and they still dont have them.
I was gonna put down Mayorga but i just dont see it. Mayorga is all talk and when in the ring he very rarely comes through. I would hate to see Cotto beat by him too. Still though. Other than a hail mary shot which basically anyone in boxing has a chance of making it happen (Except Paulie M) i just dont see it.
I agree its unlikely but Mayorga is bigger, does have power & Cotto's defense doesn't fill me with confidence.
i just dont see the russian being able to beat martinez unless he does it by ko... the fight is at foxwoods...which is almost like a homefield for dibella...hes done paulie fights at foxwoods and mohegan....and he used to be the president of the norwich navigators minor league baseball franchise which was right down the road.... id say the guy has to knock martinez out or really desicively win 10 rounds to beat martinez i just cant see laying anything...even plus money...on ortiz...if the line came down slightly on berto id actually consider him a pretty good play and a decent value in that one.... i think the only one worth a shot is solis
That one's pretty close to even money (9/7 odds last I saw, about -135). But it doesn't matter. Acosta is extremely undervalued in that one, IMO. Acosta is two or three steps above Rios, just most people haven't seen him. Acosta should be a much heavier favorite than he is. I think there's very little chance that Dzinziruk upsets Martinez. Bad style matchup for Dzin. The upset I think has the best chance of happening actually is Wright-Macklin.
Fair enough. I know nobody is rooting for Dzinzurik and from what i have seen he is technically pretty good. Last technical guy Martinez fought was Cintron and he is steps below Dzinzurik in that department. Cintron while he did not deserve a draw did trouble Martinez at times. Thats my basis for picking him as a possible upset. Ortiz like i said is just based on Bertos recent level of opposition. He fought like a coward against Urango and i feel Ortiz has more power and is just overall better. I expect Ortiz to put a scare in Berto wether he wins or loses.
Im a lil torn up on that one. The odds look pretty intriguing and i dont know if im praying for one but would cherish it if it came. The thing is if Morales beats Maidana does that mean Morales made a hell of a comeback or does that diminish the hottest division in boxing right now?? I guess it would be a bit of both.
its all good man...yer entitled to your opinion....and you make some good points i just dont see lou putting sergio in major harms way after the pwill fight...he knows he has a potential star....and especially with the little war of words with pacquiao heating up he might think he has a crack at a fight there....i agree though....these russians are usually very good technical fighters....but hes 34 and his resume looks pretty weak to me while sergios seems to be gaining some steam well see.....like i said though....the foxwoods area is and old stomping grounds for dibella too
