If I am correct Trinidad was the favourite going into that fight, with a dominating win over a solid fighter in William Joppy. You could of course choose your own visual evidence of Hopkins being an ATG in the Tarver, Pavlik or Pascal fights?
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqEk8gU4C6U[/ame] Sums up the brilliance of Benitez. There are other fights I could have posted to show his defensive reflexes, which are arguably the greatest ever, but I love this vid. Lands an absolutely perfect right hand on Hope and then just stands back smiling, admiring his excellency, as Hope crumples to the canvas. El Radar is a joy to watch, and he could have been considered one of the best ever if not for being around with the likes of Hearns and Leonard.
:deal I would have gone with... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwi2Ppbh8k4&feature=related[/ame] I know I couldn't have done that as the boy I was 4 years ago.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJUzl0aFHZw[/ame] Nothing really needs to be said for this. Probably Ali's most complete performance. The speed of hand and foot, the reflexes, the sharpness and the way his shots are put together are remarkable. Truely sensational showing.
That feat will never be accomplished again. Really remarkable. As I say, there are so many vids of Benitez that would be more appropriate than the one I posted. But, I just love that vid because it shows, Benitez is great, and he damn well knows it too. The way he admires his own magnificence like that, it's one of my all-time favourite images in boxing.
When he KOed Hope, he knew he had put him to sleep. Brilliant knockout shot. You're a big Cotto fan too right? You seen much of Wilfredo Gomez?
I'm a massive fan of Puerto Rican boxing in general. From Benitez to Gomez to Tito to Calderon to Cotto to Vazquez Jr. I haven't seen as much of Gomez as I would have liked. I've only really seen the Zarate, Sanchez, Pintor, LaPorte and Nelson fights. The Pintor fight was epic, one of the best of that entire era, and all but finished Gomez as an elite fighter. He's damn entertaining to watch, his KO percentage is unparalleled amongst fighters in the lower weights. Have you seen much of him? I certainly have to watch some more.
Pretty much the same fights as you. I want to buy one of his career sets but at the same time there are quite a lot of other careers I want to look at. Gomez's KO rate makes me want to buy his though.

I know what you mean. I'm always reluctant to buy career sets for fear that I'll want someone else's right away. I always go through phases of obsessing with past fighters, so I cant trust myself to stick around for an entire set.
