What your non boxing mates say about our fighters

Years ago I went to see George Foreman at the London Arena with a big crowd of us. Unfortunately I was Johnny no-mates in the Arena whilst the others spent the evening in the bar waiting for big George. They came in to see a young Colin McMillan and said "he's good, how long till George comes in". I think they saw 2 minutes of action the whole night and said in the car "whats the point in watching boxing at least football lasts 90 minutes". I frowned.

I tried to get them on board for the magnificent 7, but there was no interest. However the rushed to the pub to see Haye v Audley. My mate said "did I see the Hatton fight when he got beaten up by the ch*nky bloke"

I have given up trying to convert the non-believers

A mate thought that Mayweather was the best fighter in history after watching the Marquez fight. In his words ''the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be''. ****in clown.

Had a mate tell me the same, Mayweather greatest of all time. Why? Because his other mate told him so and also, he was undefeated.

I tried arguing with him, telling him being undefeated isn't everything and that it's easier to be undefeated when you've fought 40 times than it is when you've fought 200 times. His response was to ring his mate who told him in the first place to settle the argument.

    No arguing with that logic.

i am far from hardcore, like a lot of guys on here and I know its frustrating for a lot of you but i am going to have to defend the casual fan or the event junkie here a bit. They are the ones who ultimately make these huge fights happen. Its guys on here that get fighters to that status in the first place but the event junkie takes them really 'big time'

Boxing is prob the sport which produces the most **** spouted by non fans. I remember someone telling me that Calzaghe would KO Hopkins in round 1, and when I said he definitely wouldn't he told me I didn't know what i was on about!
