This question is not necessarily limited to Haye, but goes to all top boxers who only box twice a year.... Haye must have banked several million for fighting Fraudley, correct? So why not stage several fights like this over the course of the year? Why only fight twice a year when you could fight a bum in-between these 6 month intervals and make millions for it? Especially when the guy plans to retire.... I wouldn't mind seeing Haye go up against the likes of Tarver or RJJ. As long as he took on at least 1 decent challenger per year. Adamek, for example, hardly faces any criticism at all for fighting bums. Why? Because he fights relatively often and he takes on a good challenge at least once a year. Is it a question of risk? Or is it because the fans won't pay if a fighter boxes 4 times a year rather than twice a year? If Haye faces Klitschko in July, then he will have been inactive for 8 months preceding. Why would Haye choose to do this when he could have taken a big pay-day against a no-hoper in March?
I think he's saving himself for easy lucrative paydays... he's obviously not taking the same route that Evander Holyfield took, upon rising up to heavyweight.. If he were, we would have seen him fight about 7 or 8 times now, and probably against guys like Alexander povetkin, Eddie Chambers, and maybe Chris Arreola, but its not unfolding that way..
This. Difference is Holyfield couldn't do that. I agree with thte TS too. People say Haye is all about money... Then he must be really stupid because he could do a lot of money by fighting tough but not too dangerous opposition while waiting for the BIG fight. Really, the only thing i can see is that he doesn't like to fight.
Boxing is, and always will be a means to an end with David. He loves the limelight & attention he gets in the ring, not the sport itself. After a long, hard road to the top he wants maximum reward-minimum risk, who wouldnt do the same in his position?
Its valid to say that he took the hard road in his cruiserweight career, but that's not happening at heavyweight.. And I will ad that men like Evander Holyfield could have done the same thing that he's doing, but opted not to, because they were after true greatness, something that Haye seems to have little or no interest in..
Thats what Im saying. Haye doesnt care about his percieved 'legacy', he doesnt care about greatness. If Haye retires healthy(without taking a damaging loss), famous & rich then he's happy.
Wlad and Haye are both inactive. They have fought with almost the exact same frequency since about 2004
I don't blame any man for wanting to retire from a brutal sport in healthy condition and with a good financial situation.. One would be foolish for not wanting such an end. But as much as I don't blame David Haye, he's in a position where he either needs to **** or get off the pot.. If he doesnt' want to fight the klits, then fine... But I don't think that he should be permitted to go on wearing a title around his waste and making millions for facing the calibur of opponents that he's been signing against.
Then why not change your thread title to something like: ''Why are Wlad and Haye so inactive?'' All you'll get on this thread are moronic Klit-nuthuggers who aren't very good at maths and know very little about what happens in the boxing world coming on to bash Haye without examining their own hero.
