In baseball, PECOTA ( Player Empirical Comparison and Optimization Algorithm) projections has predicted 76 to 86 wins for the Angels the last seven seasons. They've averaged 92 wins.

Will the new-age stats work in boxing?

Just like baseball, it would factor a boxer's every stat 'n create 'n algorithm.

Dull -- but because of the success -- more 'n more ol' school owners, managers and coaches are believers.

If the Angels have been projected 76 - 86 wins the last 7 seasons and they have averaged 92 wins over that time span. The PECOTA seems some what flawed.

If you were an owner, would you complain about that "flaw," rc, ?

If I was the owner of the Angles I would not do a lot of things such as call the team the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I boycoted baseball in protest for a year. While baseball is not a passion like boxing, football an d basketball are I do fallow the sport now. I grew up in Orange County. It is nice to have teams that are ours and not LA's. I got nothing against LA. However Anaheim is not a part of LA. I don't really fallow Hockey but I do like to see the Mighty Ducks do well. Sorry that was a bit of a tangant. Yes I would rather win 92 games than 76-82 games.

Because boxing has so much subjectivity (did the fighter win the round? did that punch land? how hard was that punch? etc.), it would be hard to use PECOTA type stats.
