You should study that more. Its not the same as everywhere. Different countries have different requirements in order to claim citizenship in that country.

Also your nationality isnt alway the same as your ethnicity. If we did so then there is no such thing as a true American because all our ancestors migrated from somewhere else in the world to get to the States.

if he has a US passport, he is an American
If he has a Philippine passport, he is Filipino by way of nationality
If he has both passports, he has dual nationality.

There isn't a grey area for this, international law is quite explicit about nationality.

Nonito Donaire has lived in America since 1993. That's roughly 18 years here, as opposed to only 10 in The PIs...

So technically, whether you like it or not, he has 2 Nationalities....but make no mistake about it...Donaire is way more American than Filipino....forget about the time spent in each nation (and where he always paid taxes) and just look at the way he fights, speaks, and carries himself...it's obvious.

In the end, Donaire OBVIOUSLY prefers America to The Philippines...and I think it's absolutely hilarious how he's playing all the ******* sheep for their support...

Nonsense - there is still more emphasis on boxing in the US than any other country, otherwise, the big fights wouldnt be in Vegas, NYC, LA. Agreed boxing compared to other sports is a minority interest, but that is the case worldwide!

 

That's because America is the recognized Epicenter of Boxing Greatness...that's why The International Boxing Hall Of Fame is located in The USA.
