Last year, we had the world heavyweight champion fighting a guy

What happened? One of the most horrendous and needless beatings of modern times.

This year, it seems like 31 year old KO specialist Dennis Lebedev with only 1 SD loss in 21 fights, is going to share a ring with 42 year old KO'd specialist Roy Jones Jr with...

    - ZERO wins over top 10 ranked opposition in ANY division since 2003 -

    - A FIRST ROUND STOPPAGE LOSS the last time he fought at cruiserweight

    - Since 2003, Roy's record is: 5 wins (2 stoppages), 6 losses (3 stoppages)

    - Since 2003, Roy's record against top 10 ranked opposition is:

The boxing world is going to have to put care for the health of its great names above the need to make a fast buck. Roy Jones is NOT fit to be in this fight. The authorities must act before he gets seriously injured, as the man is utterly delusional and cannot be trusted to make the decision for himself. It's beyond tragic that it has got to this stage for one of the greatest fighting machines of the modern era... but here we are.

:patsch One of the more tragic stories of modern boxing. The guy is a good commentator for HBO, I don't see why he just can't stick to that.

Don“t make this fight. Lebedev is one of the biggest banger in cw. I really fear for Jones health here.

Horrible fight. Its so obviously going to end in a KO, probably a brutal one.

But imagine what a Jones victory would do for Calzaghe's resume!

Seeing ATGs getting brutalized by guys they would've wiped the floor with in their primes depresses me. Sorry, but it does. Perhaps if Jones sustains permanent damage to his health in this fight, you will change your attitude over unfair fights which shouldn't have been sanctioned in the first place. :think

Agreed. I think he's an excellent TV analyst. It would be fantastic if he just stuck to that in future.

Yes great post. Basically a very good seasoned fighter that the North American market knows nothing about gets a FREE MARKETING ride by beating up a LEGEND that is far past his PRIME.

Roy is addicted to being in the ring, most performers, actors, singers, etc. have all mentioned that being on stage is a high that they can't achieve through drugs. The adulation they recieve from the fans-even if its just a few hundred, is a rush that can't be duplicated. I am sure it is the same way for a boxer, the ring walk alone is probably a super-high. Damn, I wish he would stop already.

Fighters are the last to know when their time is up - they'll keep going and going til someone stops them. It would be very refreshing and good for the sport if the commission refused to sanction this fight. Barring a miracle, it would end very, very badly for Roy.

Couldn't agree more. Jones should have hung up the gloves 6 or 7 years ago.

    Unfair fights ?

I dont hear you crying about all the unfair mismatches that Jones took part in when he was the guy doing the damage :huh

What goes around comes around, it's more a tragedy for the guys getting paid peanuts than for the multimillionaires losing a few fights,

    get your priorities in order:good
