A classic fight, arguably the greatest of it's decade. What more could you ask of a fight? Drama, tension, fast hands, hard punches, iron chins and strong wills, not to mention the controversy that added spice to an already sizzling bout. Meldrick Taylor, in his prime, was something to behold. One of the most talented fighters to ever step foot in the squared circle IMO. His hand and footspeed was simply dazzling. But when you're fighting a 68 fight veteran, who hits like a mule and is thouroughly relentless, punishment will be taken, and sadly for Meldrick, this punishment was prolonged and devastating.

If anyone hasn't seen the fight I suggest they watch it!

Thanks Kirk. Pics and vidoe's were pretty hard to find for this one. I was searching for Meldrick Taylor and all I was getting was Jermain Taylor and stuff. It's a decent first try though. I think.

Acosta feeling ready for Bam Bam

Donaire dropping in to see Rios.....

    :-(
and April 9th Matthew Macklin will be fighting Winky Wright..... on the Morales Maidana undercard. Got some weird fights on this card

Acosta looks like he's coming for Bam Bam's Braaaaaaaains in this pic

Although I've picked Rios officially, I hope this is a good fight, as usual, and would be very happy if Acosta pulls it out, and shows that the nice collection of 0's he's been eating, is no fluke.

    FIGHT DAY
Brandon Rios: ”I believe I can become world champion and show everyone that I’m ready for the best lightweights in the world and Miguel is the first step. On Saturday, everyone is going to see a new world champ. The belt is coming home baby!”

Miguel Acosta: ”This is, without a doubt, the toughest challenge have I had and I will pass with flying colors. This is my first big test and there will be more to come. I know I will be coming back to make my second defense in Las Vegas.”

Huge props for these two taking the tough task and homing in on eachother. Rios especially, hes on the verge of some real recognition and it would have been easy to kinda baby that record a bit, but he took on a real challenge with no real following. This is how boxing is done. Great fight.

Just rewatched Rios/Peterson. He really looked quite good in that one. Am hotly anticipating this match.. Right now I'm just trying to figure out if I should pull an all nighter to watch it, or go to bed early and get up early to see it:think

It really does! That's another reason I enjoy boxing in Japan. It's in the noon and can be enjoyed with a good breakfast:D

Btw Kirk. I'd like to copy SportsLeader some time in the future, and do a ´in the spotlight´, but for a fighter this, if you dont mind;)
