Dempsey - Never, Jones would get pounded.

Langford - Not a chance in hell. Speed does not mean a fighter is ultimate in their ability to win.

Tunney - Once again, see my answer for Langford.

Marciano - Could go quite late in the match a la Walcott, yet the KO punch will land. Jones will fall.

Schmelling - Roy gets crushed in a very methodical fashion despite winning the majority of the rounds. Max was scientific enough to examine Joe Louis and crush him, via his ability to analyse a match I'd say that this is where he holds his edge.

Spinks - Michael, no. Dear lord no. Leon is the only one that gets defeated out of this list.

Patterson - It would be like watching lightning go up against lightning. However, he'll get cracked severely by Patterson who actually has a technical pedigree against Jones who just has speed and reflexes.

The best heavyweight Jones could beat was the one he had already defeated. John Ruiz. That's about it, next to Leon Spinks. Oh, and maybe Trevor Berbick. Jones was never a heavyweight and his chin would seriously get cracked by nearly any heavyweight with power. Speed can only get a guy to move so far.

And in other points unfortunately related to this thread. Retaliation to an insult is never a good move. The best move is to sit back, know that the insult was unwarranted rather than risk retaliation.

I was banned for a month not too long ago for posting a link to meatspin. Then another couple days after for calling my banner a homosexual

What do me and combo both have in common? We both black. Where are we? Classic Forum, old whitey country. Go figure

Leon Spinks. Not Michael though, he's another one in a long list of guys that would ktfo jones.

Ruiz's " big" (compared to jones) slow clumsy ass actually did some good work and seemed to be worrying and hurting Jones in the first round. Then jones broke his nose and johnny never tried to come with intensity. Dempsey and Marcanio are not backing off because of a broken nose...neither are most historic heavyweight champs.

Is it a general consensus Jones just would not get up from any Heavyweight punch KD? Those KO's coming back down to LH really raised questions about his chin, but he took bombs against Tarver in the first fight and got up from a big right hand he didn't see coming against Del Valle.

Of course, none of those punches were heavyweight punches, but the point is that he's not a fragile butterfly who will fold at the first jab.

The first three would murder him, and the last two would merely brutalize him.

    Theoreticaly?

I guess that sombody like Jack Sharkey could brutalize him on their best day, but let him get past them on an off night.

He took plenty of bombs from Tarver who is a big LHW puncher and took a few bombs from Ruiz too who has a pretty decent right hand. I presume most people haven't watched these fights. He looked a dead man in Tarver 1 and still rallied to get the win

Part of his problem, is that there have really not been any lineal heavyweight champions who were not superior punchers.

The ones that don't have bone shattering power have fair power and superior technique.
