His then trainer-Lou Duva had said on Boxing Illustrated magazine (early 1990's edition) the Ayala could've beaten Duran, Hearns, Leonard and Hagler.

Tony Ayala Jr. vs. Tommy Hearns, and
Tony Ayala Jr. vs. Roberto Duran

would've been awesome explosive fights, if they had happened in the early 1980's.

The topic has been done to death and the article is exceptional only in how poorly it is written. No points for original perspective. No points for eloquence/articulation. Fail. Fail. Fail.

    Who wrote that steaming pile?

It had me at "wrap sheet".

If I turned this in as a 3rd grade writing assignment, I would probably be given a helmet and assigned to special ed.

I will always think of Tony Ayala Jr. as a piece of trash first, and a failed fringe contender that lost his 2 biggest fights, second. Anyone who thinks he would have a chance with any of the fabulous 4 is out of their minds.

Abused ! Do'nt tell me other fighters did'nt come fron more impoverished or abused backgrounds. Ayala is a piece of ****. PERIOD. He squandered his first carreer. He came out of the pen to big money and big fights on bein Tony Ayala.. fights that some guys never see. He must have liked the pen better. It sure looks like he could'nt wait to get back there . May the cocsucker die a turturous death and rot in hell ! Enough about this scum !!

Dream Fight: Julian Jackson vs. Tony Ayala, Jr.

    By Greg “Stats” Gorecky.
This is a greatly anticipated fight between two great sluggers Julian Jackson and Tony Ayala Jr, and the two combatants have a healthy dislike for each other.

Following intense negotiations the two camps agreed upon Comiskey Park for the site of the fight. Jackson will be defending his title for the fifth time.

As the fighters head for the ring Ayala is wearing white trunks with “El Torito” emblazoned on the waistband. He is accompanied by his trainer Lou Duva as well as his cutman Joe Souza. After a slight delay Jackson heads to the ring. He’s wearing gold trunks with “The Hawk” printed on the front.

He’s followed by trainer Richie Giachetti and cutman Ralph Citro.
Following the introductions of ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr, and following the final instructions of referee Pat Russell the fighters returned to their corners to await the bell....
