Solis - Welliver fight was on the undercard of the Vitali-Peter fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwV2v1756Gg[/ame]
Seems to be a lot of hate for Welliver, apparently from folks that that don't know anything about anything. For those stating Welliver only fights bums, fighting bums is better than not fighting at all, especially if you can't get the fights you want. One cannot MAKE someone fight you. As a previous poster stated, Welliver falls into the "risk vs reward" category. Meaning for most, it ain't worth the risk of fighting him for the recognition I would get if I win and therei is a damn good chance I might lose or look very, very bad. Besides, anyone who believes the crap coming from "Kingpin", needs a reality check. Lastly, good luck in the future Mr. Welliver, stay busy. P.S. If James "Taps Out" Toney calls, pls do us a favor and go shut his mouth and put him out to pasture.
Hey Chauncy....firstly well done mate and congratz on your weight loss :good I know how hard it is getting fights so dont worry about all the negative talk. My guy (Evans Quinn) is still available for a fight if your looking for one. We are happy to come to you in NZ or the States. I think it would be a good fight for both you and my guy. Lets talk and see if we can make it work.......check your PM's buddy PS: Say hi to Charles :good
Read about Quinn on boxrec, Ashley. Definitely a step up for Chauncy, and his best opponent to date except for Solis.
I agree mate....good fight for both guys....may as well take on guys similar level if nothing else is coming off....both guys need to keep active...I hope we can do something with Chauncy...it would be great :good
To answer this question along with BoxingDomains question, I think Solis is a very solid fighter. Of course, I am a bit biased as he stopped me in our fight. I think his strongest attributes are his chin and his does not take a step backwords. This could serve him well with Vitali or be the end of him. I personally think he bulls in and gets his head jabbed off as he is too short. The Klitschkos do not like pressure but they have seemed to figure out how to not let fighters pressure them. I pick Vitali in a decision where he does have some shaky moments. :yep
What are your thoughts on fighting Quinn then Chauncy? Looks like a good fight and better than most of the guys you've been facing recently, with all due respect.
Just because another boxer comes on ESB and the staff or whatever is in bed with him, doesn't mean I have to be one of his fanboys and give him "atta boys" every week. This is a forum for opinions, debate and discussion (or so I thought....you never know with ESB) and I'm allowed to present my views, I'm not the only one that shares these views I may add. If I'm more "vocal" than others, so be it. I don't take anything away from Welliver as a man, he does seem like a decent guy and I respect his replies my comments. As far as his performance and career go, along with his fanboys constant praising and delusional call-outs go, my comments stand. You can call me whatever names you want. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I don't know anything about boxing. People that say such things are typically unsecure themselves.
Now I'm supposed to find the independent confirmation for you? C'mon now. There were press there wasn't there? Boxing writers all over knew about this card didn't they? Are you really that naive? You could have even issued a public response to KJ's call-out or fight offer (or lack of as you claim) and that would have been something, but you didn't. You simply vanished and went quiet. I'm saying the opportunity was there, KJ was there and you could have either taken the fight you've been calling for, or you would've made KJ balk, which would have been hilarious. I understand quite well what you're saying in reference to the sparring partners comment. You want a "name" to fight you for nothing and get no recognition for doing win or lose, which is naive of you to believe will happen. You need to bring something to the table, and as you admit.....you don't have anything. You're basically just a sparring partner, but you want to do it in public and have it go on your record. At some point you're going to have to dig into your pockets and put yourself on a card with a name if you're going to make any headway in this sport, and without a promoter....that's hard. Fighting nobodies in backyards doesn't "make noise" in the division, and it's not a testament to any skill you may or may not have.
I have talked before with his manager and we spoke again about it tonight. We are both in agreement that this will be an excellent fight. Either him or I need to find some sponsors to make the fight happen. I like the fight. I have followed Quinn since he beat a friend of mine Victor Barragan. He's good and it would make for a awesome show.:yep
