Lucky for BJ catching the Majority Draw. Strong man wanting to take that on again. Honest and classy both fighters.
Yeah, who knows. I mean, even without knowing about the Bones titleshot before his battle with Bader, you knew that fight had meaning in the lightheavy division. It was two young, hungry powerhouses going at it. Tonight you get Bisping proving nothing. If anything, he took a step back in competition. And Penn vs. Fitch, eh. It just told us what we already knew...neither man will beat GSP.
BJ should keep fighting, he is a threat at LW belt given its the right matchup. He also provides excitement moreso than not.
Three draw rounds on this one card and we hardly ever see them...great, what a time to break em out judges...bra-****ing-vo. Edit - At least two, possibly 3.
And going nowhere. The only thing that I was somewhat excited for in this card was Lyttle but even that was a disappointment. I want to see a damn prospect.
Ya know, I grew up watching B.J. Penn, he's my favorite fighter without a doubt but honestly he looked broken and legitimately sad. I don't wanna see a hero of mine start going out like Liddell by being beaten by less talented fighters. I don't want him to retire but maybe he should.
Things have caught up to BJ. MMA has a new breed of fighters and BJs one of the last one they caught up to. Even prime BJ when he was beating the Gracies, Gomi etc will no longer be as effective today. Thats just the truth. Its amazing what Anderson is doing, but that could be attributed to him having out of this world striking skills to begin with, while nowadays, everyone has a watered BJJ blackbelt. And if you notice, those who still has some effective BJJ are the Mundial winners Jacare, Roger, Maia. The rest has mostly been figured out.
Yeah, you're right, he is going no where. It seems like he never steps up in competition anymore. He's close to becoming a gatekeeper at this point. Except instead of facing young prospects (which could be interesting), he gets fed journeymen. A gatekeeper beating journeymen is meaningless in the MW division.
Lol, slept through the whole thing, was listening to the announcing of Jon Fitch and was like "oh, it must be the co-main event". Boring card, right here.
Yea he was truely ahead of his time. While I feel he DOES have a legitimate BJJ Blackbelt unlike some as you mentioned, and while he may he a great striker, he's been in so many wars and perhaps his body just want respond anymore. MMA is evolving and he should take one more winnable fight and go out on his shield. He's given us plently and we'll all love him and he'll never be forgotten.
Wait. There are people with usernames on EAST SIDE BOXING who chose to watch Jon ****ing Fitch on PPV rather than the Rios-Acosta war on Showtime? :? I understand liking both sports (obviously my preference is boxing). I can appreciate that some people might be a little more into MMA than boxing. The fact is...there was what seemed like it would probably be a FOTY candidate - and was - on free television...yet people chose to go with a $45 PPV headlined by Jon ****ing Fitch? I just don't get you people. What are you even doing here, as opposed to Sherdog or whatever?
He is a Mundial winner but there is a level beyond that. I mean even guys like Leites couldnt do **** to Silva on the ground. The only true effective pure BJJ now that youd say whoa is really JAcare and Roger.
