acosta is good but rios is the best... he's a cyborg...dont know **** about backing out, unlike most slick black american fighters.

Miguel Acosta knocked out both Moses and Urbano Antillon, he's a quality fighter!

Add to that his power, Rios deserves credit for a very good win last night.

Acosta was a great champion. Too bad he didnt get the recognition before this fight. He should take some time off imo before fighting again. This was a very physical, punishing fight.

i didn't see the fight but i read the report on the ring sounds like acosta got a little unlucky to have expended all his energy like that

he may have been able to box the last 3 rounds and got the decision

he sounds like hes got serious skills

It wasn't a case of Acosta was beating Rios easily, then blew all his energy and subsequently lost the fight on his own terms.

Rios took his best punches, and walked through him.

Acosta is a very good fighter at the weight though, not many more there I can think of with his one punch power.

Aside from expending the energy, the first KD seemed to really effect him. He wasn't nearly the same after that. At the time of the stoppage he was down, with the KD's being the big difference.

Acosta was very impressive the 1st few rounds, he hurt Rios a few times, but credit Rios for his beard. Rios seemed a step too slow, and it looked like he might be wearing down himself after taking so many shots.

But it was Acosta who wore down. Rios' pressure just took too much out of him I guess.

Yeah Acosta's skills surprised me to be honest, very quick, very precise with that right hand, a decent mover and quite a good counter puncher. Aesthetically pleasing style all round. Was the first time I'd seen him but will defo be looking out for his next fight.

For a few minutes it looked like Rios had bitten off more than he could chew, especially when he was put on the back foot by Acosta in the 4th round I think. Who's ever seen Rios on the retreat like that?

Better stamina and a bit more resilience and it would have been extremely close. He'd have beaten a lot of people last night but, as we all know, styles make fights.

acosta surprised the hell out of me, i had no idea who he was and thought it would be a walk over for rios, i was so sure he would win it after the 4th round or so, thought it would just go like that until he stops rios.

Exactly man! It's not like Acosta was the only one landing.

There was no clinic, like other people say there was. Yes Acosta was landing some nice Classic counters early but so was Rios IN his RELENTLESS pressure attack in the first rounds which led to KO since ACOSTA was expending a lot of energy.

Both were landing big power punches... the only difference was that RIOS was able to take them, and ACOSTA just got tired running back and trying to fend off the BEAST but it was impossible so he succumbed to the pressure.

Yeah I thought Rios was in for a long night after those first few rounds. Good chin or not, he was eating right hands for fun at the start of the fight... I thought they'd maybe have an accumulative effect but Acosta couldn't keep it up.

Credit to Rios, he imposed his will on his opponent, made him move a lot, forced him to throw more shots than maybe he'd have liked (can't really compare it to other fights, never seen him before) which tired him out big time.

Was defo an air of Cotto-Margarito about the fight last night.

Acosta looked very good no doubt about that but Rios' relentless pressure, strong chin, and body punching got the best of him.
