Katsidis vs Rios

Interesting matchup which would be a WAR no doubt.
Dont see it happening in the short term tho due to 1 being with Top Rank & the other with Golden Boy.
I would lean to Rios in this matchup.

Rios is a badass no doubt and we all know Mick brings the pain!

I would have to go with Katz, on his inside work and relentless style, he wouldnt have given an inch if he fought either of those boys on the weekend!

 

If this fight was to happen, I know it's a big call, but it would have Gatti vs. Ward I or Castillo vs. Corrales or any of the Vasquez vs. Marquez fights written all over it for mine.

These guy's wouldn't know anything but to just stand there and fight. Both can't really 'box' for ****, but by geez they know hey to bang!!!

I'd favour Katsidis at this point in time. Rios is more hittable than he is. I think Soto v Rios would be fun and logical too.

 

All I know about this fight is that **** would get real.

looking for him.but sadly i think Rios by KO.he can take a
punch well.seen him against Peterson,the guy on the Pac/Marg U/C and just you-tubed the Acosta fight.this
kids got great power.

I just re-watched Rios vs. Acosta from yesterday and deadset, that is a high quality bout and both boys should be real proud of their performances. Acosta, even though in the end was out on his feet and then got dropped with some massive Rios right hands was still there in the 10th trying to throw good shots.

Great fight!

 

Rios broke his right hand in the 8th round. Will be out for a while.

 

Katsidis would be able to hold his own against Rios, but... his skin might not. I think the fight will be ended due to cuts on Kats...

Brandon Rios’ right hand apparently isn't broken after all.

Doctors initially believed that the new lightweight titleholder broke his hand in his victory over Miguel Acosta on Saturday in Las Vegas. Rios said he felt something pop in the eighth round, two rounds before he scored a sensational knockout.

However, a hand specialist in Los Angeles, who performed an ultrasound, told Rios that it appears the hand was not broken.

“The doctor said he can’t tell for sure because the hand is so swollen,” said Cameron Dunkin, Rios’ manager. “The doctor thinks he just dislocated a joint and fluid came out, which caused the swelling. So it looks like he won’t have a cast for now.

“The Nevada Commission doctor was convinced it was broke. This guy says he doesn’t think so. We’ll know more when the swelling goes down.”

The fate of Rios hand will determine when he will be able to fight again.

Dunkin said promoter Bob Arum pitched Marco Antonio Barrera as a potential next opponent for Rios but Dunkin isn’t crazy about that idea.

He said Rios is extremely sore after his hard-fought victory. Thus, he would rather the fighter not engage in back-to-back wars, which he believes might be the case if he fights Barrera.

“Brandon is going to need some rest,” Dunkin said. “I’d like to get him a regular fight with somebody, get him a title defense. Barrera is very tough fight, believe me. He still knows how to box. For three, four rounds, he’d be trouble too. I think Brandon would get to him eventually with his power and strength but the early going could be tough, just like the Acosta fight."

“I don’t want another long, brutal fight like the last one. I want to let his body recuperate. Then he’ll be ready for the Barrera type.”
