I'm enjoying watching top class mma more than boxing these days myself as the top fights in boxing that everyone wants to see are not happening and the top mma organisations are run so professionally they make boxing look like a joke sometimes.

    Can't wait to see -
    GSP - Shields
    GSP - Silva
    Shogun - Jones
    Continuing Strikeforce heavyweight tournament

Currently in boxing there are not many signed fights i'm interested in at all.

I personally thought UFC 127 was a good event even though on paper it looked below par. Imo Fitch beat Penn. I scored the first to Penn 10-9, the second to Fitch 10-9 and Fitch surely deserved a 10-8 for complete domination of Penn in rd 3.

Francis, with the utmost respect, if you are not keen on the fights I've listed below then you are either a hard man to please or have no interest in the Sweet Science:

    Soto v Antillon 2
    Agbeko v Mares
    Vic v Perez
    Froch v Johnson
    WV2 v Arce
Cotto v Mayorga (a guilty pleasure)

The first 4 have FOTY written all over them and the last 2 feature 4 guys who always entertain. I'll take those over your UFC turdfests any day!

Yep, I usually don't mind Francis as a poster but i really think he's drop the ball with these comments about up coming boxing events.

Cotto v Mayorga - this will be a cr.acker for 3 or 4rds, MMA can't compete with this slugfest.

I don't really understand this line of thinking. :huh

I like some MMA cards more than some boxing cards too, but in your opinion I should **** off from here and go to the MMA forum? :verysad

Here's a thought, why can't I like both, and use both forums?

The UFC could be better though, if Dana wasn't such a ****en goose.
Sometimes his strategy is good, but other times his lack of professionalism is really poor.

MMA have done one thing right and it's something boxing might have to find out the hard way, and that is listen to the fans. They go onto the forums see the matchups people want and put them on. So in essense part of the sport is turned over to the fans. If a fight was seen as a robbery they will have a rematch etc. So they have built trust with the people watching it and only a handful of occassions have there been outright robberies. If they lose that trust with the fans they are ****ed. Where as in boxing the fan gets pissed on more often than not.

Unless boxing gives the fans what they want they are going to die. Just about every industry that was around prior to the internet is finding out the hard way. Boxing has a brilliant product but unless it gets taken over by google or something (run like a modern business and give the consumer what they want) it might face massive diminishment of fans in the next 10 + years to the point it is basically irrelavant.

It's already happening hence all the debate about MMA vs Boxing. One way to look at it is that they are competing for the same advertising dollar. But that kind of thinking doesn't belong in the modern era. They should be promoting each other. A lot of boxing fans like watching MMA and a lot of new MMA fans could be put onto boxing.

Boxing will not die as long as there are fights like the ones listed:

    Soto v Antillon 2
    Agbeko v Mares
    Vic v Perez
    Froch v Johnson
WV2 v Arce ( I would not include this one as Arce is finished at this weight)
    Cotto v Mayorga

Just because PBF wont fight Pacman then that is not the end of the world and who cares about Heavyweight division anyway?

Boxing has more freedom for fighters than UFC which may make it a bit more complicated to match the top bouts but I would rather see the fighters have more freedom than anything else.

Rios vs Acosta yesterday was a great fight and last weeks Donaire vs Montiel was a *******.

I like MMA although Boxing is my #1.

Whatever happened to Lesnar vs Fedor?

the politics in MMA are a lot worse than boxing.

dana refuses to work with other orgs so we will lose out on the best match ups. look at the heavyweight division - cain valesquez is the title holder but would get beaten by alistair overeem IMO...yet there is almost zero chance this fight will ever happen.

Fair enough! If you prefer inferior action then that is your call! I support your right to watch garbage!

Give MMA long enough and it'll probably have multiple organisations, alphabet titles and be in just as big a mess as boxing is. Sadly the greed of the few just about guarantees it.

Inferior action ? Well thats your opinion as it is a completely different sport with only some similarities to boxing. Some people might suggest that boxing in this day and age is inferior to mma.

Myself i enjoy both and always will.

Happy for you Francis! If you are comfortable with shelling out $40 to see roided, near nude men hug and roll around on the floor whilst being tugged over by a stadium full of acne scarred, white trash rednecks just itching to bust out of the closet then more power to you!:good

You sound very defensive regarding mma. Thats ok you can stick to watching the boxing whereas I will continue to watch and follow both sports. Both sports have positive and negative aspects.:good
